Each pack consists of teacher notes, activities for use in the classroom, information cards and posters to help teachers introduce and study the concept of renewable energy sources. A series of resources including video, animation and whiteboard materials that address the skills, knowledge and understanding of how science works within the GCSE specifications. This unit looks at the advantages and disadvantages of adding fluoride to drinking water, and considers how valid different opinions on the subject are. Video clips of expert opinion are included and pupils are encouraged to form their own opinion and to present the case for or against.

Out There is a project that celebrates the extraordinary and the obvious and maximises one of the most valuable resources: your own doorstep. Venturing beyond the school gate, stepping out into the outside world, learning professionals guide the children around their square mile, listening, watching and experiencing the world around them. What’s that? What is it for? Who lives there? ……… many questions that can lead to discovery and knowledge about the children’s own locality and their experience of it.

This unit has been developed to raise awareness of energy wastage at home and in school.The unit is split into three sections. 1. Huddling penguins – to develop pupils’ investigative skills while learning about how animals adapt to their environment. 2. Energy from fuels – looking at different forms of renewable and non-renewable energy. Pupils carry out an investigation to find which fuel produces the most energy. 3. Conservation of energy – looking at how we waste energy in the school and at home and pupils investigate ways of conserving energy.

A comprehensive series of multimedia materials to support the teaching of the GCSE Design and Technology Textiles Technology course. The materials can be downloaded as a complete Moodle course or as individual elements. The bilingual resources include video clips, animations, text and quizzes within Moodle and can be used on an interactive whiteboard for whole class teaching or by students on individual computers. This unit comprises of a series of 6 interactive activities for introducing vocabulary for common classroom objects, classroom instructions, numbers 1-10 and simple colours. The unit also includes teachers’ notes with suggestions on how to use each resource.

This inteactive activity is designed to introduce pupils to the idea that some everyday objects need electricity to work. The initial page asks pupils to identify items that use electricity. Subsequent pages ask the pupils to drag electrical items into the room in a house where they might be used. The final page asks pupils to identify objects that need either mains or battery power to work and can be used to initiate discussion on safety (battery being safer than mains).

This is a collection of work from around 20 teachers, who were happy to exemplify how, digital media assists and excite the learning that occurs in their classroom. The selection of tasks and products are varied and some may seem eclectic, but these are the methods and products used and made by the participating schools and ones that they have achieved success with.
