A comprehensive series of multimedia materials to support the teaching of the GCSE Design and Technology Textiles Technology course. The materials can be downloaded as a complete Moodle course or as individual elements. The bilingual resources include video clips, animations, text and quizzes within Moodle and can be used on an interactive whiteboard for whole class teaching or by students on individual computers. These units have been designed to guide pupils in elements of Narrative and Genre (Week 1 and 2), Character types (Week 2), Camera conventions (Week 3), Comic conventions and layout (Week 4), Reading Trail (Week 5). There are some associated word files that can be used with the digital resources. The PPTs are interactive. Although these units appear in chronological order, they can be used as stand-alone elements for other aspects of English.

This lesson introduces pupils to shapes and patterns. There are a series of interactive activities, all of which test pupils' ability to place shapes in a particular order. They will also create multi-coloured objects, one side at a time. The lesson can be simulated in the classroom using plastic building blocks.

This lesson explores the features of written instructions including the use of time words to help indicate an order and the use of action words. Pupils have the chance to follow instructions and develop their own. The lesson could be used during a unit of work on writing, especially one that explores writing for purpose. Use of the whiteboard tools (eg pen, highlighter) would also enable the teacher to address other associated word-level work.

These interactive History resources have been developed from document-based resources on CD available from Cardiff Castle. (Contact Education Officer: Elizabeth Stevens 029 2087 8110) It is assumed that these activities will be used in conjunction with a visit to Cardiff Castle but they could be also be used on their own to support work in your school. The topic is split into four areas; The Arab Room Floor; Servants; The Bute Dowry and Armour through Ages with an interactive introduction to each lesson. The lessons can be viewed on an interactive white board or a standalone computer.

Part of G2 – Changing Human Environments, WJEC A guide takes the user through a virtual field investigation into the changing nature of redevelopments found in 12 different Liverpool docks from 1981 to future plans. The free data and activities are available as interactive flash files and as downloadable worksheets. The resources include extensive photographs, both aerial and ground, video, interview, text, planning and excel files.

This application allows pupils to practice basic number operations through a series of easy to use mental maths operations. There are exercises on three levels; beginner, intermediate and expert, covering the four basic number operations together with exercises on multiplication and division by powers of 10. Each test asks ten questions on the selected topic and the pupil is provided with instant feedback as each answer is submitted. The pupil’s mark is recorded in the database to allow progress to be monitored. A traffic light form allows easy monitoring of pupil’s progress.
