A range of activities based around Macbeth. Used with Y11 MA. Includes extracts. Most work is my own, though some bits are taken from excellent ideas that have been shared with me.

I found that students were making very weak comments about the effects of poetic devices in poetry. Therefore I created this mind map that can be used as a placemat or classroom wall poster. It encouraged students to look at the writer's intention more, rather than just writing "this has a positive effect". I will be using with AQA Power and Conflict poetry GCSE, however it is flexible.

My students were finding it hard to meet the criteria in their literature exams and struggled with essay questions. I therefore made these worksheets ~(based on the AQA sample mark scheme) that guide them to producing an exam answer of a high grade.

Looking at tone in A Christmas Carol. Looks at language matching activity and then gives and extract and helps LA students to answer exam questions.

Students can use these worksheets to revise key language change events and theories and complete notes on various aspects of the module.

This resource was used with a high ability Y9 group as part of a unit on Current Affairs. It could also be adapted to use for A level English Language. The PP builds towards writing a comparison essay.

PP looking at each poem separately and a large grid/ essay plan comparing the two. There are two differentiated versions. This was done with Y7 though it was challenging for them. I have looked at the same poems with anything up to Y11.

A collection of extracts for MA students to work on as revision. My class find the language very difficult therefore I have underlined key quotes and added a glossary down the side to help them. Extracts taken from Sparknotes and I have built this into an activity.

PP looking at each poem separately with clear skills and A3 comparison sheet to plan overall answer. Kahoot activities were used alongside this.

Paper 2: Writers’ viewpoints and perspectives Looks at planning answers for Paper 2. The students look at the general ideas behind how to answer each question. This can then lead on to them writing full answers. My class get easily overwhelmed and I found that this broke things down for them. The extract is taken from somebody else and not my own, however I created the activity. Section B revision sheet helps students to quickly brainstorm ideas and reminds them of the mark scheme.
