These PowerPoints and worksheets will allow you to teach HIGHER TIER ONLY GCSE Chemistry content on Moles. This lesson introduces the concept of a mole in terms of Avogadro’s number, exemplifies how to calculate the number of moles from mass of a substance and vice versa, and shows how to use moles to calculate numbers of particles of a substance **There are two versions of this lesson and worksheet provided. This PowerPoint is designed to introduce the Law of Conservation of Mass, closed systems and looks at simple examples of conservation of mass in solutions and chemical reactions. This lesson is accessible for students, easy to follow for teachers and is required learning for Combined and Triple Science classes, Foundation and Higher tiers. Be aware: this resource covers the basics; it does not deal with more complex ideas linked to conservation of mass (e.g., reacting masses) as they are covered in a later lesson. As such, this content may take a whole lesson to cover with weaker students but will be completed very quickly with higher-ability / motivated students.
