Groups in the Periodic Table: 4 GCSE Chemistry Lessons. Edexcel 9-1 Topics CC13 SC17

7 Resources
This bundle meets all specification points needed to teach Topic 13 (topic 17 for Separate Science) “Groups in the Periodic Table” from the Edexcel GCSE 9-1 Combined Science course. The bundle includes four full lesson PowerPoints and associated resources plus my overview and equipment lists for all Year 10 and Year 11 Combined & Triple Science. Having delivered this to three classes already, my suggested teaching order is: Noble Gases, Alkali Metals, Halogens and Halogen Reactivity. This gets the dry intro out of the way first before focusing solidly on the more complex topics that typically feature on exam papers. I have many other GCSE lessons and bundles available so please check out my shop, OnSpecScience.

Current Electricity Year 9 Double Lesson PowerPoint (KS3 9Jc) Force Fields & Electromagnets

(0)
Full lesson PowerPoint (with suggested practical activities) sufficient to teach a broad range of abilities about current and voltage in electrical circuits. The lesson is in keeping with the current KS3 UK National Curriculum, is easily accessible for students and simple to follow for teachers. In theory, this should be one lesson re-capping Year 7 knowledge on how voltage and current are measured and how they behave differently in series and parallel circuits. In practice, many students are not great at building or understanding circuits as they have had limited practice at it, so they struggle in Years 10 and 11. The aim of this double lesson (plus my follow-up lesson on resistance) is therefore to recap and extend Year 7 Electricity, while giving extended practice at building circuits and focusing on accurately connecting ammeters and voltmeters. Hopefully this will leave students better prepared for GCSE Physics.
