WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 3- Lesson 6- Earthquake Hazards and Tsunami's
This is the 6th lesson in the 3rd theme of the new WJEC/Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks at earthquake hazards and what vulnerability will depend on. The lesson also contains a case study that pupils will need to research and goes through what tsunami’s are and the PTWS. All the activities and information that pupils need to know is on the powerpoint.

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 3- Lesson 5- Mount Merapi Eruption
This is the 5th lesson in the 3rd theme of the new WJEC/Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks at the 2010 Mount Merapi Eruption in Java. The worksheet is to be used for the starter and the rest of the lesson. There are questions on the sheet for pupils to answer to help develop exam practise. The powerpoint contains all the basic information for the students to know (this can be done as a feedback task).

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 3- Lesson 4- Vulnerability
This is the 4th lesson in the 3rd theme of the new WJEC/Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks at different factors that increases vulnerability and different methods to reduce a persons/ countries vulnerability. The lesson also looks at volcanic hazards. All the activities that are needed is on the powerpoint.

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 3- Lesson 3- Tectonic Features
This is the 3rd lesson in the 3rd theme of the new WJEC/Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks at the formation of shield and stratovolcanoes and characteristics of each of them. It also looks at hotspots and geysers and as homework pupils are to research small scale features such as cinder cones and to answer the questions on the sheet.

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 3- Lesson 2-Plate Margins
This is the 2nd lesson in the 3rd theme of the new WJEC/Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks at different types of plate margins and the different hazards that form at each of them but also the large scale features that form at a destructive and constructive plate margin. The destructive plate margin formations is a gap fill exercise.

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 3- Lesson 1- A Tectonic Planet
This is the 1st lesson in the 3rd theme of the new WJEC/Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson covers an overview of the structure of the world, how tectonic plates move, the distribution of the worlds earthquakes and volcanoes and Alfred Wegener. The Alfred Wegener evidence pack is NOT mine and was created by Clund on Tes (so I do not take credit for this).

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 2- Assessed TEST
This is the assessment used to test pupil understanding of this unit of work.
It uses a wide range of different exam questions to cover all aspects of the course… BUT I DOESN’T COVER EVERYTHING- just like the exam it will only cover a few topics.
The mark-scheme is included and is done/ set out very similarly the ones published by the exam board.
I have also attached a feedback sheet (The template of the table came from Mrs Humanities).

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 2- Lesson 18- Cardiff- A welsh global city and Assessed Homework
This is the eighteenth lesson in the second theme of the new WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks at Cardiff as a global city. As Cardiff is a fairly local example, the information on the slides is just what the students need to know for the exam. The lesson like the others also contains exam practise. There is an attached assessed homework which can be started in the lesson and finished off as homework. The mark scheme is also attached.

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 2- Lesson 16 and 17- MUMBAI- Everything that you need to know.
This is the sixteenth and seventeenth lesson in the second theme of the new WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks at Mumbai as a whole. It focuses on every aspect that pupils need to know about it and it is split into two lessons. The lesson focuses a lot on exam practise and teacher and pupil mark schemes are attached onto this. The keep it, build it and bin it, feedback sheet came from the brilliant- Paul (@ploguey).

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 2- Lesson 15- Urbanisation and Global Cities
This is the fifteenth lesson in the second theme of the new WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 specification for geography
This lesson looks at global cities and urbanisation. It focuses on what urbanisation is, the features of a global city and how a global city may lose its status. There are loads of different activities that help pupils engage with the content and also at the same time practise their exam skills. I have also started to include the “#excellentgeographer” into some of the slides- (This idea was taken from the amazing Jen Monk- @Jennnnnn_x). The worksheet contains a lot of graph practise, as well as another 8 marker with a clear and focused 8 marker mark scheme on it.

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 2- Lesson 14- The high street fight back
This is the fourteenth lesson in the second theme of the new WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks at the different ways that the high street is doing to “fight back” against decline. The lesson, like others still focus on exam practise as this is the easiest way to get pupils to focus on their weaknesses. The lesson like others contains an 8 markers to help pupil to continue to practise these tough questions.

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 2- Lesson 12 and 13- Retail in the UK
This is the twentieth and thirtieth lesson in the second theme of the new WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks at the retail section of the topic. This lesson can be done in the full hour or to make it easier because there is a lot of tasks you can split it up over two lessons. The lesson covers where retail occurs, different features of retailing and hour technology has changed the way we shop. The lesson contains a range of activities all aimed to help with pupils exam practise. The plenary also contains an exam question but it focus on “how far do you agree?” style of questions, where pupils fill in the planning sheet first before answering the question.

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 2- Lesson 11- Urban Regeneration- Brownfield Development- Cardiff Bay
This is the eleventh lesson in the second theme of the new WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks at brownfield site developments and pupils judge if they are a sustainable way of regenerating an area. Pupils look at this lesson through the context of Cardiff Bay. There are multiple slides (that I recommend you print instead of going through them all) on the history of Cardiff Bay and the reasons why it went into decline. Pupils then look at the advantages and disadvantages of the development by categorising the. The lesson finishes with exam practise.

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 2- Lesson 10- Sustainable Urban- Rural Communities
This is the tenth lesson in the second theme of the new WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks at how we create sustainable communities/ the different factors that help us to create one. Students also look at what Egan’s wheel is and how it is used to help us to create a sustainable community. Students also look at BedZED as our case study of a sustainable community (this is done as a research/ ICT task).

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 2- Lesson 9-The Housing Crisis
This lesson is the ninth lesson in the second theme of the new WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks at why we have a housing crisis and what solutions there are to slow down the crisis. One of these solutions are garden cities in which we look in detail and look at Plasdwr as our garden city. This case study will also form part of the greenfield development case study. Exam practise on “To what extent” and “How far do you agree?” questions is done throughout to help pupils practise a really hard exam question type.

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 2- Lesson 8-UK Migration and Ageing Population
This lesson is the eighth lesson in the second theme of the new WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks at the reasons for migration occuring witin the UK but also looking at the reasons and consequences of an ageing populations. Exam Practise throughout helps pupils understand how what they had learnt may be asked in the exam.

This lesson is the seventh lesson in the second theme of the new WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks at the various different strategies that can be done to help make a rural community sustainable. Pupils do various different tasks and summarise their knowledge through exam questions which help them practise their exam prac skills.

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 2- Lesson 6- Our Changing Rural Areas (Rural Deprivation)
This lesson is the sixth lesson in the second theme of the new WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks at the ways in which rural areas are changing. Pupils are to look at the reasons behind why rural areas are changing and to look at the reasons for deprivation. Majority of the lesson will then focus on exam skills by answering a range of exam style questions.

WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 SPEC- Theme 2- Lesson 5- Counter-urbanisation cont. and commuting
This lesson is the fifth lesson in the second theme of the new WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 specification for geography.
This lesson looks continuing counter-urbanisation by pupils feedback their research to the class (and if needed the slides to go through the information- if you want to) and looking at commuting- the factors that has lead to an increase and decrease, a range of exam questions and skills based questions and homework on a case study for Cardiff.
