I am an experienced English teacher of both Literature and Language, and also Classical Studies at High School level. You will find text-based resources for novels, poetry, plays and film study in my shop for Years 7 - 13. The resources are generic to the text so are suitable for any curriculum. I am also a passionate believer in effective literacy learning hence the emphasis on phonics resources in my shop.

A borderline Non-Achieved / Achieved Pan essay on character development. I have found this resource to be useful in illustrating the difference between a plot-driven essay. Students are able to edit the document and provide relevant analysis. Editable document showing how to integrate analytical comments into an essay. Again, this is useful for students who tend to ‘tell the story’. The scene analysed is Ofelia and the Toad. Resources designed for NCEA Level 3, NZ Curriculum, but can be adapted to any film analysis of Pan’s Labyrinth.

This booklet can be used as teacher notes or as a student booklet. It’s generic and does not focus on a specific text(s). 18 page PDF. Created specifically for NCEA Level 2 As91107 Standard, the first few pages focuses on the marking criteria and an explanation of the standard based on the task designed. Please note: the task is an interpretation of AS91107. The remaining pages focus on exploring a text through genre before moving on to a breakdown of film techniques and some activities for students. There are some suggested templates for students to use if they wish and an exemplar showing students how to link film analysis to the genre. If you are looking for film technique information or text analysis based on genre, the information in this booklet can be adapted for Media Studies or general Film Study.
