A series of lessons investigating the basic media principals. 3 lessons focus on moving image and build up to an assessment comparing two moving image adverts. Brief into to the 1-9 framework given in an accessible format. All lessons are fast-paced and engaging, with a mixture of group, paired and individual activities. Travel Writing: 8 lessons focusing on non-fiction text analysis and improving persuasive and descriptive writing skills.

A series of 8 lessons. 5 Lessons focusing on improving pupils descriptive writing. Lesson 1 focuses on increasing pupils use of adjectives. Lesson 2-3 focus on increasing pupils use of sensory imagery. Lesson 4 focuses on figurative language. Lesson 5 focuses on using effective punctuation and sentence structures. 3 lessons focusing on the format of Non-Fiction texts. 1 / 2- Letters and reviews 3 -Adverts. All lessons vary tasks and activities to create fun, engaging and well-paced lessons. All lessons use the 1-9 criteria and focus on A05 and A06.

A lesson detailing to pupils how to identify the features of an advert (linguistic and format) and recreate these in a writing task, based on the Edexcel English Language exam. Suitable for KS3 classes and KS4. A recently observed Ofsted 'Outstanding' lesson, with a clear presentation and attached worksheets. Suitable for all exam boards but designed for Edexcel English Language Specification (also attached) and grade boundaries from 3-6, which can be altered easily to accommodate HA or LA pupils. The lesson contains a think, pair, share starter. The main activity consists of a pupil led analysis of a series of adverts (designed to cover a range of language and structural features), an original writing task and finally the plenary consists of a peer assessment task (worksheet for this is attached). A clear and easy to follow baseline for pupils in KS3 and KS4. Features a short extract from 'The Boy in The Striped Pyjamas' and 3 comprehension activities designed to text student ability to retrieve information, identify language features and discuss the effect of individual words and phrases on the reader. There is then the choice of two imaginative writing tasks. The paper is essentially a miniature and more widely accessible version of the GCSE English Language paper pupils will sit at the end of KS4.
