You have enough to do so let me do some of the hard work for you. I have been a teacher in England for almost 10 years but I've been working in schools even longer than that. I have taught across year groups from Year 2 upwards in primary schools therefore I know what good resources look like and require. I also know how little time teachers have to prepare quality resources so wanted to share great resources for teachers to have the option of using instead of creating their own from scratch.

Year 5 - Ordering and Comparing with Differentiated Tasks

This activity is aimed at Upper KS2 children and gets them to show their understanding of place value by ordering numbers using the greater than, less than and equals sign. Presented on a Powerpoint presentation, this resource provides 3 ability level tasks, aimed at children in Upper KS2, **which are displayed on the board simultaneously which means no/ minimal printing is needed. ** There are slides which explain how to do the tasks and the option of a printable spinner (needed for the middle ability task). Then they move on to a spinner activity where they create their own numbers to order and finally the children needing to show how they could represent the numbers they make using place value counters.

Pyramid Addition and Subtraction KS2

Apply addition and subtraction understanding using pyramids. Pupils add blocks next to each other to create an answer above. If there is an empty box it may mean they need to subtract with the box below to find the missing answer. Great way of getting pupils to understand when they need to add or subtract in a missing number question. This starts simple and gets progressively harder. All answers don’t go above 100,000. Answers are included.

Multiplication (Short) Column Method

This sheet is best aimed at Year 5 but could be used with any child in Years 4, 5 or 6. The worksheet starts with 2-digit multiplication questions using simpler times tables then progresses in difficulty. It moves on to harder multiples. Then 3 digit multiplication. Questions 16 and 17 require children to use greater than and less than symbols and then Q18 to Q20 are balancing equation questions about multiplication. The sheet is particularly useful as it is written on squared paper so children could write on to the sheet using the correct column method. 1 page plus an answer sheet.
