'PRIVATE PEACEFUL' - IMAGERY ANALYSIS UNIT BOOSTER (British NC KS3 YR7) - SAMPLE
‘PRIVATE PEACEFUL’ - IMAGERY ANALYSIS UNIT BOOSTER (British NC KS3 YR7) - SAMPLE
A super-useful booster for a language analysis unit on ‘Private Peaceful’ by Michael Morpurgo.
Based on developing the inference skills based on word-imagery, this set of rich visual prompts is meant to help stimulate students’ sense of the hidden meaning behind visual language in the novel ‘Private Peaceful’. Students are given key words from the text and a supporting picture from which they can springboard into analysing connotations. Comprehensively covering a massive amount of images from 3 parts of the novel, roughly 80 word-pictures, this will give students a strong basis for composing language analysis paragraphs based on connotation, and could be used to scaffold into summative/formative assessment based around the essay.
This resource set is designed to fit into a thorough schema/sequence of work which already covers the context, plot overview/comprehension facts.
