Differentiated reading comprehension worksheets for the fairytale ‘The Fisherman and His Wife,’ which tells the story of a fisherman who catches a magical fish that grants wishes. However, his wife’s greed leads to their downfall, teaching the moral to be content with what you have and not be greedy for more. The carefully retold story is written at four levels appropriate for readers aged 6 to 11 years old. The higher level text is double-sided, has a larger word count, features more complex vocabulary, and includes 17 higher level questions. The middle level text is double-sided, has simpler vocabulary, and includes 13 questions. There are two lower level texts, both of which have been simplified for lower-level readers and follow the structure of the higher texts. However, one is a shortened version omitting one of the wife’s three wishes. Both lower level texts use mainly decodable and high frequency words. He sends her two beautiful gifts, a nightingale and a rose, but the princess rejects them because they are real and natural, rather than artificial. The prince then disguises himself as a swineherd at the palace and creates a musical pot. The princess pays ten kisses for the pot and one hundred kisses for a musical rattle. However, when the Emperor finds out, he casts her out. The prince, realizing that the princess is unworthy of his love, spurns her and leaves her singing dolefully outside the palace. The higher-level text uses more complex vocabulary, some literary devices, and a larger word count. Count to 24 in steps of 2 with array being built. 100 square count in steps of two with pattern being revealed (2 sec each step). 100 square count in steps of two with pattern being revealed (1 sec each step). Double the number with numbers in random order (doubling function in-out machine design). 2 times table with sum and array in order. 2 times table with sum and array turnaround in order. 2 times table with sum but no array 2 times table with sum and array out of order. Answer shown and student to give sum. Also included are the x0 and x1 timetables. Often overlooked when teaching multiplication, but essential to grasping a true understanding. First slide is ‘times zero’ times table and shows a fixed golden zero with sum twisting in and out. Amenhotep III, Ancient Egypt Pharaoh Reading Comprehension Worksheets This download includes differentiated biographies of Amenhotep III, an ancient Egyptian Pharaoh who ruled during the 18th dynasty. He was born in Thebes, Egypt, in the year 1388 BC and became king when he was just 12 years old. Amenhotep III ruled for 38 years and was one of the most successful and powerful pharaohs in Egyptian history. The biographies are split into two levels, with approximately 500 words and 10 questions in the higher level and approximately 350 words and 8 questions in the lower level. Both levels follow the same structure and cover similar information and facts. Answer sheets are included in two styles: A4 with lines and A5 to print, cut, glue in books, and answer below. These worksheets are suitable for teaching biographies and ancient Egyptians for KS2 and KS3.
