This is a scheme of work focused on the Shakespeare play A Winter's Tale. The focus of the unit is on the dramatization of a set scene: the scene were Hermione awakens from being a statue. The central concept is on directorial choices and how this changes the audience's reaction to the scene. This is an excellent unit to complete at the end of the year and there is a lot of fun to be had in creating lollipop puppets and performing the play as mini puppet shows.

This is an excellent unit to cover social and moral issues, as well as covering aspects of the PSHE curriculum. These PowerPoint lessons are focused on the play Whose Life is it Anyway? that explores the topic of euthanasia. The lessons are in no particular sequence and were originally designed to support the writing of coursework. The lessons can be adapted for work towards an examination. This would be an excellent introduction to writing about drama for a Year 9 class.
