This resource aims to engage learners who have difficulty in spelling or a barrier to learning during English lessons due to spelling. The Power Point is 15 slides and includes a starter and exit task. This is a seven page workbook to help learners understand inference. The workbook includes four short pieces of fiction with questions on what is inferred in each text. The learners are then asked to describe a character to a reader and guided through the process of using inference in their writing. The booklet also includes a peer assessment sheet to allow the learners to evaluate the success of the inference. It includes an activity for groups, (a three minute word bomb) planning activities with a mind map and key tips on what the examiners are looking for. Attention is paid to purpose and audience and the learners are encouraged to use language features in their work.

This resource is a Power Point with tasks and activities to help learners revise word classes. There is a workbook for students to follow the exercises including a wordsearch, a crossword, anagrams, a board blast style game and other activities. I have included some pictures for the imperative verb game. This resource is perfect for learners studying GCSE English language and Functional Skills Level 1- 2. It helps learners understand how to use word classes to help their writing. This activity takes one and half to two hours.

This is a Power Point presentation and worksheet perfect for GCSE English Language and Functional Skills Level 1- 2. The learners are asked to act as journalists, watching a report about the Hatton Garden Gang and taking notes to locate the vital information. The learners then get into groups of three or four and answer questions on the report. The worksheet allows the students to answer the questions on paper. The answers are provided on the Power Point. The Power Point then asks the learners to partake in a board blast to list what they would include in a newspaper article and some answers are provided. Finally, the learners can use some time to research the gang before creating a newspaper article on the Hatton Garden Gang appealing to the public for information on the missing suspect. This lesson last around an hour and a half and can be split into two equal lessons of the listening comprehension and the writing task.
