This 58 slide PowerPoint is the perfect revision tool for the KS2 literacy curriculum
In total 17 different types of puncutation are covered with each term covered over at least two slides.
Slide 1 - a multiple choice quiz where the term is given and the children have to then choose from four possible definitions.
Slide 2/3/4 - the correct definition is given. This is then followed by an activity for the children to complete which will consolidate their understanding of the type of punctuation. Depending on the type of punctuation, some have the definition and activity on the same slide whilst others covering 3 separate slides.

Slide 1 - Definition of an adjective including examples of sentences containing adjectives.A definition of parenthesis is also included on this slide.
Slide 2 - Ten sentences where the children need to underline the adjectives in the sentences.
Slide 3 - Ten simple sentences which the children need to up level by adding adjectives. The children are encouraged to include parenthesis and expanded noun phrases.

These A4 differentiated word vocabulary mats are an essential tool for any child and would be perfect laminated and stored in boxes in the middle of the table. The mat focuses on writing a set of instructions.
The mat gives helpful sentence starters for the beginning, middle and end of a set of instructions as well as possible adverbs, verbs and adjectives that could be used. There are also two examples of sets of instructions that the children can use to uplevel or improve their own piece of writing. The attached images show each mat but each pack includes:

Year 5/6 Super at Spelling - Autumn Term Pack. With this termly pack you will receive 12 weeks of spelling words and associated activities. These will be emailed to you all in one go.
With the introduction of the new spelling, grammar and punctuation test at the end of KS2 and the new National Curriculum our spelling resource is an absolute essential.
This pack comes with 12 weeks of activities with a set of spelling words and three activities per week.The resource is organised around the new National Curriculum and includes:
Weeks 1,3,5,7,9 and 11
10 spelling words to learn based on a spelling pattern or sound as recommended in the new National Curriculum.
Activity 1 - 10 sentences with missing words. Children to write out the sentences including the correct spelling word.
Activity 2 - Anagrams. The spelling words have been scrambled up and the children need to unscramble and then write out correctly.
Activity 3 - Wordsearch. The spelling words are hidden in a wordsearch and the children need to find them.
Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12
10 spelling words from the new National Curriculum statutory word list or words from previous SATs tests.
Activity 1 - Definitions. Children need to match the correct spelling word with the correct definition.
Activity 2 - Missing vowels. The spelling words are jumbled up and the children need to add the missing vowels to correctly spell each word. Once completed they have to write them out in alphabetical order.
Activity 3 - 100 word writing challenge. A visual prompt is given and the children need to include as many of the spelling words as they can in only 100 words.
Each activity is designed to take between 10 and 30 minutes and can either be built into the curriculum or given as homework activities.

This is a simple concept which is designed to provide opportunities for children to write. In this pack are 6 weeks of writing prompts with 5 prompts included each week - one for each day. The writing prompts are only supposed to take children 5-10 minutes to complete and they should only aim to write 3 or 4 sentences. However the sentences they write should be of high quality and the children should aim to include a range of connectives, sentence starters, vocabulary and punctuation. At the end of the session it is recommended that the teacher provides an opportunity for the children to share what they have written.
