Our Maths Investigation pack contains sixty maths statements to be investigated and is great for the 'using and applying' area of maths and reasoning which is so important to the new National Curriculum
For each statement the children need to explain whether the statement is:
Always true
Sometimes true
Never true
The statements vary in difficulty meaning that everyone in the class can participate. You may want, for example, to have different groups of children working on different investigations. Statements to be investigated include:
Digits in the 9x table add to 9.
Add any four even numbers. Now divide the total by 4. There is no remainder.
On each A4 sheet there are two maths statements and the pack also includes an A4 instruction page with possible extension activities.
A great revision resource for Year 6 pupils.
There are two test papers included within this pack
1) An arithmetic paper presented in the same style as the Year 6 SATs paper. This contains 36 questions covering a range of topics which are based on the Year 6 National Curriculum objectives only.
2) An arithmetic paper but with the questions presented in word problems. The numbers are the same as in test paper 1 but the questions are presented in a word problem format to help encourage and develop reasoning skills.
The answers to the 36 questions are provided at the end of the paper. This could be given to pupils in timed conditions or alternatively children could work in pairs or small groups to help aid revision.
The questions included on this paper are based from the Year 6 National Curriculum objectives only so do not follow the pattern of the SATs paper where the questions start off easy and get progressively harder.
Chilli pepper maths challenges are a differentiated approach to solving maths problems. This year 5 pack contains differentiated questions from each area of the Year 5 curriculum. These include:
Place Value
Addition & Subtraction
Multiplication & Division
Fractions
Measurement
Geometry
Statistics
For each mathematical area there are three sets of questions (one chilli pepper - easy, two chilli peppers - medium difficulty, three chilli peppers - hard and great to asses mastery) The three sets of questions fit back to back on an A4 sheet of paper. This allows children to choose their level of challenge or alternatively direct children to where you wish them to start. Great for additional practice or assessing children's understanding.
The pack is aimed at children in years 5 but can be used with other pupils throughout the primary phase. Answers are provided.

Our 'Terrific at Tables' activity pack provides children with weekly times table practice.
This pack comes with 12 weeks of activities with a different multiplication times table focused on each week from 2x to 12x. The final week will include a mixture of all the times tables covered. Each week there are three activities to help the children learn the focused times table. These include:
An empty times table grid for the children to complete.
A spider diagram activity where the children have to record related facts.
A speed test which includes a range of multiplication tests and associated division facts.
This resource is perfect for regular practise of times tables and can be completed at various times throughout the week. Over time the children will become multiplication experts allowing them to apply skills to other areas of maths and therefore gaining in confidence in a range of mathematical areas.
These activities are aimed at children in lower KS2 but can be used across the key stage. The activities are best to be completed in books or on paper.
These activities are provided in both PDF and PowerPoint format so they can be displayed on a whiteboard or printed out. Each page is decorated with a playful Clipart image thanks to our license with Clipart.com

The investigation takes the children through step by step, they are in complete control of their spending and decide exactly what is included in their park. It also gives the children an insight to running a business with taxes, insurance and running costs all included. They learn about the power of marketing and the effect this has on the visitors to their park and their profit.
