Canva is an excellent, free, design tool that can save you time and money. It makes sense to use this instead of paying for expensive designers. This resource comes in PPT form and a pdf. The PPT is 30 slides.
This training PowerPoint and PDF is a step by step guide to get you started using Canva. A Pinterest pin using Video is created for the purposes of an example, however, the skills learnt can be applied to other promotional documents such as Covers, brochures, posters, instagram posts, twitter posts, etc.
You can use Canva to market your store, and / or use it as a class lesson. Students / learners can create posters, design promotional material on a topic of your choice, etc.
This can be used to teach yourself how to use Canva or as a project for students / learners.

These two forms are useful to make informed decisions about the apps that will be downloaded onto iPad for children's use. A set criteria is used to ensure that the apps will be educational, within budget, relevant and useful. There is such a wide variety of apps to choose from that a process like this should be in place whenever staff wish to recommend and / or suggest apps for early learning centers or primary schools. I have left this in word format so that the forms can be edited if necessary.
This training manual lists all the steps required to create, edit and delete headers and footers in Microsoft Word. It is set out step by step with lots of graphics to make it easy to follow. Essential skills if you are working with documents that are over 2 pages long.
I have included both a Word and pdf document for editing and printing as required.
This resource has been created for anyone wanting to learn how to use Microsoft Powerpoint. It can be for students or workplace use. It is a great skill to have and a must to be able to create professional looking presentations.

This resource contains documents that are useful to use when teaching about workplace forms. They provide good examples with graphics of Accident and Hazard forms. Learners can enter in their workplace forms and also their specific workplace examples of accidents, incidents and hazards that could affect the safety of themselves and others in the workplace. The documents can be edited for specific company details.
There is also a standard form that can be filled out as an activity for students.
This resource is a list of common carpentry and building handtools. The first worksheet lists the tool, has a description of what the tool is used for and has a picture. The second sheet is an activity for students to complete by filling in the description area.
This is useful for apprentices or those working in the construction industry that are new to NZ (worker from overseas) that need to get up to speed with names for tools and equipment within the industry
This resource is for those that are new to Microsoft Excel and want to quickly learn and practice using calculations in Excel. The spreadsheet has a number of different sheets within it that have clear instructions and practice exercises to use for yourself or your learners to quickly master basic concepts.
I have used this to teach students and workplace learners with much success.
Covers addition, subtraction, multiplication and division on sheet 1. Sheet 2 has Autosum and subsequent sheets practice using these with common spreadsheets such as invoices and profit and loss scenarios. Simply give learners a copy of this spreadsheet and work through together or let them try by themselves.

These forms cover Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook as well as a basic users form. When planning computer training it is essential to have an idea of the skill level of participants. You can hand out or email these forms to learners before or during a session. They simply fill them out and return them. You can then use the information to split up groups into appropriate skill levels or just for general content planning for the session.
I have also included a Feedback form that can be used to hand out after the session. They are in Word format so that you can easily remove or add any of the skills.
I have used these for corporate groups and community groups successfully.

Most apps are easy to use. It’s Using apps effectively and with purpose that is the crucial step.
This resource introduces learners to the EEC (Example, Effect, Change) model of providing feedback. It gives them the words and confidence to tackle what can sometimes be difficult conversations in an effective manner. It also covers the PAC (Patience, Ask, Confirm) model for receiving feedback.
It contains four examples of how to give constructive feedback both positive and negative. There are also tables created for learners to write their own scenarios and then roleplay the interactions.
There is also a video link to a Ted Talk by Sheila Heen titled ‘How to use others’ feedback to learn and grow.’

In this interactive activity you display the Powerpoint provided and learners review and take notes to identify areas of improvement. As the facilitator, you explain that Charlie Brown has just created a presentation and welcomes feedback before delivering to an audience. Tell students that they will be giving feedback at the end of the presentation. There job is to look at each slide and identify areas for improvement.
Ask them to write notes as they go for feedback at the end of the presentation.
This is an extremely useful activity that gets learners thinking about visual aspects of their own presentations. Each side has notes for the trainer to indicate the errors on the slide.
I have used this with many learners. It is an effective activity and generates a lot of good discussion.
