This is a clip card/task card product relating to mixed consonant digraphs: ch, sh, th, ck, ng, ph and wh. The missing digraphs are at the beginning, middle and end of the word. Content: Match digraph to picture - clip or dab and write Match digraph to picture task cards b/w Match missing digraph to the picture in the oval shape Match missing digraph to the picture in the oval shape (b/w) There are two colour sets which you can print, laminate and cut apart: 4 cards per page. The black and white sets can be cut and paste into students’ workbooks. This resource is ideal for early finishers and/or if you wish to assessment your students on digraphs. Preparation is required: print, laminate the cards and cut apart. Students use dry-wipe pens, dabbers or clothes pegs/pins to complete the activities. Laminate the flash cards these show real photos and b/w pictures. They can be used to review the life cycle. PowerPoint Presentation - (Editable text) Play in Slide Show mode for animation - You can start the presentation From Beginning or Current Slide. It starts with an introduction to create interest. You can bring in a pumpkin and/or use the pumpkin on the slide to start the lesson off. The presentation goes through each stage of the cycle. There is whole class interaction with the presentation and review questions. Lesson Plan - This is flexible and starts with an introduction and then the main activity. I’ve included the presentation slide numbers for ease. Although you can just play through the PowerPoint . The plan states learning objectives and learning outcomes and the resources needed to carry out the lesson. Differentiated Worksheets Worksheets 1 and 2: Read and trace over words and cut/paste activity An extra worksheet shows 4 main stages of the life cycle. Worksheet 3: Colour and b/w: This shows the 6 stages of the life cycle. Students label each stage. Once labelled, they fill in the missing words in the 6 sentences. Worksheets 4 and 4a: Cut and paste activity. Students cut out the pictures and correctly glue them in the correct order on the life cycle diagram and then label the boxes. Worksheet 5: Writing in order to sequence the pumpkin’s stages of growth. Worksheet 6 (Optional Extension): Detailed writing for more able writers. This worksheet contains useful vocabulary which students can use to write a more detailed explanation of the life cycle using the information gained from the PowerPoint presentation and the life cycle diagram on the worksheet. Hand-ons: The Life Cycle of a Pumpkin mat and cards can be used for students to talk about the life cycle placing the cards in the correct order. One mat shows real photos and the other mat pictures. Arrows are included which you can laminate and cut apart for this activity. Dictation sentences and longer passages. This resource is in line with the National Curriculum objectives on the value of dictation to children. UPDATED TO INCLUDE PDF DOCS Aimed at: Foundation/Keystage 1/2 and suitable for ESL/EFL students. The resource comprises:- PowerPoint Presentation (1) - contains 10 sentences for dictation. PowerPoint Presentation (2) - contains 20 texts for dictation - passages are longer. Ready-made worksheets (x3) Handwriting sheets Audio recording of all the dictation - on the last slide of each Presentation. Clear and comprehensive Teacher’s Notes on suggested use of this resource. The learning objectives are outlined - in short the children to write from memory simple sentences dictated by the teacher that include GPCs and common exception words. This activity gives the student the opportunity to practise their spelling. You can use this resource in focus groups or whole class teaching. The texts are numbered but you do not have to follow the number order. You can pick and choose any text to suit the level of your class or group. As suggested in the teacher’s notes, you print of the text to read aloud or play the audio. After the dictation, the children can correct each other’s work by referring to the text on the PowerPoint Slide, and then copy the corrected piece of writing into their literacy books in their best handwriting. Punctuations dictated are: full stops, commas in a list, question marks and exclamation marks. Speech marks/inverted commas are also used in two of the texts for the higher Keystage students. This reading comprehension bundle includes 4 lovely fiction stories. The vocabulary is age-appropriate and children are encouraged to work out the meaning of words in the context of the story. The subject matters are familiar to the children and so there are cross-curricular themes. The booklets cater for all level of readers - The Chase being the easiest. Booklets 2 are divided into sections. So each paragraph is followed by questions. Some of the questions require the reader to 'read between the lines'. Not only is a child's comprehension assessed but other English key skills are incorporated. The resource can be given to more able pupils to work on independently. The booklets can also be used in guided reading sessions. The questions are extensive so the children can answer a set of questions in one session and do another set of questions in another session.

This single phonics pack focuses on initial consonant blend ‘gl’ CCVC words. As with the other consonant blends packs: it is child-centred child-friendly and a step up from CVC and CCV to Phase 4: Letters and Sounds Phonics. Increases children’s vocabulary. Aimed at: Reception and keystage 1, SEND and ESL/EFL students. It is an addition to my other resources on initial consonant blends. This pack contains: Detailed Lesson Plan with learning objectives, lesson starter, main activities and plenary - You can choose which parts are relevant to your class. PowerPoint slides are referred to in the plan. PowerPoint Presentation 1 (31 Slides)- includes explanation of initial blend, CCVC words and whole class activities to prepare children for their independent activities. This resource relates to St. George’s Day (23 April). In contains: A Presentation (48 Slides) on St. George. The presentation starts with a welcome to the whole school. It then shows a stain glass window of St George and arrows pointing to the cross and the shield with St. George cross. There are questions and answers throughout the presentation to involve the children. Updated with a newer version containing new pictures and black and white pictures.(April 2019) 56 colour 56 black and white Print and laminate the whole card or you can cut apart the strips and mix them up. Children look at the picture and say what it is. They then unscramble the word in the centre and write it out correctly using phonemes previously taught. Other suggested use: You can cut apart the strips so that you have 56 onset and rime strips. Select the strip you want children to match up and unscramble the cvc words. Children can match up the pictures that rhyme and then unscramble the words and say the cvc words that rhyme. They can record their work in their literacy workbooks. Objectives: To be able to use phonological knowledge to unscramble CVC words To be able to sort pictures that rhyme and match onset and rime words. This resource relates to ANZAC Day on 25 April. Clear and straightforward - Ideal for assemblies or as a standalone lesson. Each slides takes you through what ANZAC day is and what it means, symbols are explained (rosemary, laurel and the poppy), why do we need ceremonies and what a typical ANZAC day ceremony involves, the dawn service and why people march. During the presentation students are asked questions that relate to their personal experiences of celebrations and why the Anzac spirit legacy is still important today. Content: • Teacher’s Notes/Guide - Slides are referred to in the notes. • PowerPoint Presentation Lesson/Assembly (42 Slides) - You can edit the presentation to suit the time limit of your assembly/lesson. • 4 Worksheets Optional Worksheets The four worksheets consolidate the meaning of the day. Worksheet 1 – Read the text and answer the questions. Worksheet 2 – Write sentences about what each symbol means and then draw a symbol that means something to them. Worksheet 3 – Students write a sentence or two for each of the ANZAC Day activities that take place – wreath-laying the red poppy, the Last Post, one minute’s silence and the Reveille. This single phonics pack focuses on initial consonant blend ‘sm’ CCVC words. As with the other consonant blends packs: it is child-centred child-friendly and a progression from CVC and CCV to CCVC Phase 4: Letters and Sounds Phonics. Aimed at: Early Years and keystage 1, SEND and ESL/EFL students. It is an addition to my other resources on initial consonant blends. This pack contains: Flexible Lesson Plan with learning objectives, lesson starter, main activities and plenary - You can choose which parts are relevant to your class. PowerPoint slides are referred to in the plan.
