**This product has been updated with teacher notes on suggested activities, worksheets and black and white pictures for more initial consonant blend activities. ** There are 3 sets of pictures for each initial consonant blend. One set has highlighted initial blends. Optional: Print out onto card paper/good quality paper, laminate and cut out the pictures and words. Content: Teacher Notes on suggested activities 3 Sets of initial consonant blend pictures with words (one set has highlighted initial blends) 64 black and white pictures relating to initial consonant blends 3 Worksheets - children trace over initial blends and then write in the correct blends to finish incomplete words. 2 Cut/paste worksheet activities - children trace over blends and then write in correct blends to finish incomplete words. Lastly, they cut out the pictures and glue to match the correct completed words. Other Suggested Activities: Pictures only - Mix up different pictures and ask students to find the picture that starts with, e.g. br. Words only - Mix up different words and ask students to sound out the word and/or draw a picture for it. Extension - write sentences. Pictures and words - Mix up different pictures and words for students to match up correctly. Make a word wall using the initial highlighted words as a visual reminder. With the black and white pictures, you can reduce on the copier or leave as is to glue into workbooks. Leave out some words for the children to find the correct word to match the picture in their workbooks. As an extension they can write a sentence using that word. UPDATED with 26 extra worksheets for differentiation. Aimed at Keystage1/Lower Keystage 2. These worksheets are based on the 22 initial consonant blends. It is part of a large resource pack - see below. You may only require the worksheets which can be used in the classroom, as homework or as revision. The worksheets include: Cloze activities on all the initial consonants - children read each sentence and choose the appropriate to complete the sentence so that it makes sense - A choice of two words. There is a mini word search at the end. Worksheet (1 page) Matching words to pictures by drawing a line. This single phonics pack focuses on initial consonant blend ‘sk’ CCVC words. As with the other consonant blends packs: it is child-centred child-friendly and a progression from CVC and CCV to CCVC Phase 4: Letters and Sounds Phonics. Aimed at: Early Years and keystage 1, SEND and ESL/EFL students. It is an addition to my other resources on initial consonant blends. This pack contains: Flexible Lesson Plan with learning objectives, lesson starter, main activities and plenary - You can choose which parts are relevant to your class. PowerPoint slides are referred to in the plan. PowerPoint Presentation 1 (30 Slides)- includes explanation of initial blend, CCVC words; whole class/group activities to prepare children for their independent activities. Also includes alien and real word whole class activity. PowerPoint Phoneme Presentation (11 Slides) - Optional (Use as reference) - some children may still be struggling with segmenting/blending) - I have listed a few CCVC words and the units of sound above the fingers so that children can see and hear the separate phonemes (with pictures) - extension some children may be able to give you other meaning for the words in a sentence. As an example, I have highlighted that ‘skip’ has different meanings. Encourage children to make simple sentences with the words to understand its meaning and distinguish between nouns, verbs or adjectives. This resource material is on split digraphs - a-e, e-e, i-e, o-e and u-e. Some teachers only require the worksheets so I have made a separate resource pack. THIS IS PART OF A WHOLE PACK - see below for link to my shop. There are two sets of worksheets: Worksheet 1 set -Students look at the pictures and complete the missing consonant to make the split digraph words. Choose 3 words and write a sentence using each of the choosen words. Mini word search to do (includes solutions). A total of 6 sets of reading comprehension packs containing comprehension questions, differentiated worksheets, beginning to write a playscript, grammar and word level work using the short story texts. - All stories are presented on PowerPoint for whole class shared reading and activities - Grammar focus - e.g. verb agreement, present, past and future tenses - Sentence work - e.g. ull stops, capital letters, inverted commas, question marks, exclamation marks - Word level work - e.g. compound words, adjectives, adverbs. - Creative writing - featured texts encourages children to write their own ending to a story or create their own. Simpson and his donkey with factsheets and worksheets. This is a PowerPoint presentation on one of the most well-known ANZAC, John Simpson Kirkpatrick and his donkey. It is a resource linked to ANZAC Day and bravery. Content: • Teacher’s Notes/Guide • PowerPoint Presentation (20 Slides) • 1 Worksheet • 5 Factsheets • 5 Reading Comprehension Worksheets relating to the Factsheets • 1 Word Search Worksheet 1 – Students write and draw 4 facts about Simpson. The less able students can write one sentence in each square. The last part of the worksheet asks students to think about a question they would ask Simpson. 5 Reading Comprehension Factsheets The story is divided into five sections. The texts are contained in text boxes to make it easier to read and extract information. Background: Simpson, The Early Days, Simpson becomes an ANZAC, Simpson’s Bravery and Simpson’s Death: The Memory Lives On. The comprehension sheets can be given out in any order. A teacher/assistant can work with a particular group that requires support. This resource relates to ANZAC Day on 25 April. Clear and straightforward - Ideal for assemblies or as a standalone lesson. Each slides takes you through what ANZAC day is and what it means, symbols are explained (rosemary, laurel and the poppy), why do we need ceremonies and what a typical ANZAC day ceremony involves, the dawn service and why people march. During the presentation students are asked questions that relate to their personal experiences of celebrations and why the Anzac spirit legacy is still important today. Content: • Teacher’s Notes/Guide - Slides are referred to in the notes. • PowerPoint Presentation Lesson/Assembly (42 Slides) - You can edit the presentation to suit the time limit of your assembly/lesson. • 4 Worksheets Optional Worksheets The four worksheets consolidate the meaning of the day. Worksheet 1 – Read the text and answer the questions. Worksheet 2 – Write sentences about what each symbol means and then draw a symbol that means something to them.
