**This product has been updated with teacher notes on suggested activities, worksheets and black and white pictures for more initial consonant blend activities. **
There are 3 sets of pictures for each initial consonant blend. One set has highlighted initial blends.
Optional: Print out onto card paper/good quality paper, laminate and cut out the pictures and words.

3 Sets of initial consonant blend pictures with words (one set has highlighted initial blends)
64 black and white pictures relating to initial consonant blends
3 Worksheets - children trace over initial blends and then write in the correct blends to finish incomplete words.
2 Cut/paste worksheet activities - children trace over blends and then write in correct blends to finish incomplete words. Lastly, they cut out the pictures and glue to match the correct completed words.
Other Suggested Activities:
Pictures only - Mix up different pictures and ask students to find the picture that starts with, e.g. br.
Words only - Mix up different words and ask students to sound out the word and/or draw a picture for it. Extension - write sentences.
Pictures and words - Mix up different pictures and words for students to match up correctly.
Make a word wall using the initial highlighted words as a visual reminder.
With the black and white pictures, you can reduce on the copier or leave as is to glue into workbooks. Leave out some words for the children to find the correct word to match the picture in their workbooks. As an extension they can write a sentence using that word.

You may only require the worksheets which can be used in the classroom, as homework or as revision.
The worksheets include:
Cloze activities on all the initial consonants - children read each sentence and choose the appropriate to complete the sentence so that it makes sense - A choice of two words. There is a mini word search at the end.
Worksheet (1 page) Matching words to pictures by drawing a line.
Worksheets - Making words from a set of consonant blends, e.g. children will see missing gaps in a word - e.g. __ __ am. They can choose any of the initial consonant blends in the box below to make a word, e.g. slam or pram or tram.

Print and laminate the whole card or you can cut apart the strips and mix them up.
Children look at the picture and say what it is. They then unscramble the word in the centre and write it out correctly using phonemes previously taught.
Other suggested use:
You can cut apart the strips so that you have 56 onset and rime strips. Select the strip you want children to match up and unscramble the cvc words.
Children can match up the pictures that rhyme and then unscramble the words and say the cvc words that rhyme. They can record their work in their literacy workbooks.

This resource relates to St. George’s Day (23 April).
In contains:
A Presentation (48 Slides) on St. George.
The presentation starts with a welcome to the whole school.
It then shows a stain glass window of St George and arrows pointing to the cross and the shield with St. George cross.
There are questions and answers throughout the presentation to involve the children.

It ends with a prayer relating to courage.

Alphabet resource for display and alphabet activities.
This resource contains the following:-
Teacher’s Notes
• Aa to Zz frieze showing pictures beginning with initial letter. Laminate and punch holes and thread through with a string to hang around the classroom or peg onto a washing line across a wall/classroom.
Aa – Zz word strips and related pictures
• Laminate and cut out
• Can be used as an extension activity. Children trace round the initial dotted letter which shows a picture for that letter.
Alphabet cards
• Alphabet cards should be printed off twice, laminated and cut out.
• Children can play alphabet snap
• Other games – lay out 4 or 5 letters in alphabetical order ,e.g. k, l, m, n, o, cover them over. Take a letter away without the children seeing and ask what letter is missing.
• Matching lower case to upper case letters activity.
Practise writing frames using Sassoon dotted font
• These are in upper and lower cases. Each one should be laminated.
• After focussing on e.g. ‘t’, children can practise writing over the dots and then without the dots as handwriting exercises.
Alphabet Mat Practise (trace over dotted letters)
Photocopy these and laminate
• Children can keep it in their trays for reference;
• can practise their handwriting if they finish their work early or for those children who need to practise fine motor skills.

• After focussing on e.g. ‘t’, children can practise writing over the dots and then without the dots as handwriting exercises.
Alphabet Mat
• Can be laminated and blu tac to the wall in the writing/reading/book corner.
• Can be used to assess a child’s phonic progress.
Alphabet Pictures Games/Assessment
• The pictures represent the start of a letter e.g. ‘g’ for grasshopper. The pictures are not in alphabetical order so that you have to look for the picture.
• Enlarge the A4 size sheet to A3 and the sheet with the alphabet tiles.
• Laminate the Alphabet Pictures grid
• Laminate the Alphabet sheet then cut out each letter for use with Alphabet Pictures grid.
• Children can play in pairs. A timer can be set so that children have a limited time to place the letter on the correct picture.
• Players take turns to ask his/her partner to find the picture beginning with, e.g. ‘s’. The player picks out one of the letters and places it over the correct picture sound on the Alphabet Picture Mat.
