Children look at the picture and say what it is. They then unscramble the word in the centre and write it out correctly using phonemes previously taught. Alphabet resource for display and alphabet activities. This resource contains the following:- Teacher’s Notes • Aa to Zz frieze showing pictures beginning with initial letter. Laminate and punch holes and thread through with a string to hang around the classroom or peg onto a washing line across a wall/classroom. Aa – Zz word strips and related pictures • Laminate and cut out • Can be used as an extension activity. Children trace round the initial dotted letter which shows a picture for that letter. Alphabet cards • Alphabet cards should be printed off twice, laminated and cut out. • Children can play alphabet snap • Other games – lay out 4 or 5 letters in alphabetical order ,e.g. k, l, m, n, o, cover them over. It aims to consolidate the pupils learning of the digraphs by saying the sounds, listening, sorting, shared reading and writing activities. There are practical activities - Just print and laminate pictures, flashcard words and the circles with each digraph onto card paper for repeated use. The PowerPoint Presentation (20 slides) contains:- Whole class activities such as slide view animation of the digraph as they whirl in - children say the sounds; Audio - children listen to the words and decide which digraph each word contains; Click and drag to sort pictures under the correct digraph heading; Shared reading text - look for the digraphs and true/false comprehension activity; There is an extra sorting activity presentation - print off slides 1 and 2 and children can do this activity at their tables instead of the click and drag activity in the main Presentation.
