This resource relates to Canadian currency - nickels, dimes, quarters and dollars (loonies). The worksheets are in colour and black and white. WITH ANSWER SHEETS Each of the four worksheets contain a variety of tasks for students to complete on the topic of buying school supplies/stationery. Worksheet 1 - Students look at the pictures and price of each item and then work out how much two items of school supplies cost. Two questions at the bottom: Which student spent the most? Which student spent the least amount of money? Worksheet 2 - This worksheet is similar to the above except students are working out what 3 items of school supplies cost. Worksheet 3 - Students answer 6 questions about the items, e.g. Which item is the most expensive? How much less do the crayons cost than the ruler? The next task is to write the new price for each item which has risen by 10c. Worksheet 4 - The first task is to write the new price of the items which have risen by 20c. Second task - to add up 3 items of school supplies at the new price. Worksheet 5 - Sale Now On! - Students reduce the price of each item by 5 cents. They then recalculate the items of stationery bought (subtraction) **Additional worksheets: ** Drawing coins to match the price tags - Students use the fewest number of coins as many times as they can. Add coins and write the total on the price tag for each object shown. Challenge: Students add up all the prices on the tags and write the total amount of money spent. This resource contains a set of 26 uppercase letters containing 2D shapes. Alphabet mats for each letter with pictures beginning with the letter sound. If you are teaching or have taught uppercase letters and 2D shapes, here are some extra resources for your pupils to colour in and/or cut out and stick into their workbooks or on a separate sheet of paper. The letters are on whole pages in two sizes - A4 and 8.5 x 11". Suggested Uses: Children colour in the shapes and the background and then they can draw things beginning with that letter. Children colour in the shapes only and then cut around the letter and stick into their workbook. You could cut out the letter and stick into their workbooks or on a separate sheet of paper with handwriting guidelines for children to practise writing the letter and then colour in. Extension: after colouring in the letter, children can list the shapes they see and the more able can put them into ABC order. Laminate the upper case alphabet mats for children to use playdough to model the letters. 2D Shapes: square, circle, triangle, oval, rectangle, diamond, star, heart, crescent, pentagon and trapezium or trapezoid. This product relates to addition and subtraction two step word problems. There are 36 worksheet activities (layout is 2 on a landscape sheet) which you can cut apart or leave as is. The worksheets are with color and b/w pictures for each problem. There is also a PowerPoint presentation showing how you can solve each problem and write the two step equations with a final answer. Content: PowerPoint Presentation Worksheets Answer Sheets which you can laminate and cut into cards Teacher Notes PowerPoint Presentation 8 Slides (Slide Show Mode for animation) Use the presentation as a whole class activity and go through suggested examples of how students can work through two step problems. Students can even work through one of the worksheet activities displayed on the PowerPoint and then share their solutions. Worksheet activities If you are looking to introduce your students to two-step addition and subtraction problems then these worksheets are suitable just to ease the students in. There are no trick word problems. There is an opportunity for students to use their own methods of solving the questions and share with the class. Other Suggested Uses You can use the activity sheets in small group work and one-to-one teaching. You can use manipulatives to explain the problem and highlight what needs to be written down to solve the two-step equations. For example, Activity 35: use real paper to solve how many sheets of paper are left in the school secretary’s printer. Whole class activity on describing an array on their whiteboards There are 3 worksheets:- Activity 1 (2 pages) - Children write repeated additions for the arrays shown. Children that require support with the activities can write one repeated addition e.g. 2 + 2 + 2 whereas a more able child will be able to write two addition models: 2 + 2 + 2 and 3 + 3. Activity 2 (2 pages) - (Extension) Same as above but the arrays are larger. There is a small section on the worksheets where it asks children to show 3 lots of 4 and then circle the groups. Activity 3 (8 pages)- Cut and Paste activity - The activity involves children cutting out buttons and arranging them in an array according to what is asked in the boxes: e.g. 5 x 2, so the student cuts out 2 lots of 5 buttons (10) and form them in an array, e.g. 5 buttons in a row and 2 columns. Extension for more able: On Activity Sheets 1 and 2 - The children can write the multiplication number sentence inside the box below their repeated additions- 2 + 2 + 2 2 X 3 = 6 3 + 3 3 X 2 = 6 Learning Objectives: To know that multiplication is related to repeated addition To learn that arrays arranged in rows and columns helps us to work out a multiplication sums. This maths pack relates to weight/mass lessons aimed at: EYFS/Year 1/2 A practical-based topic - to get children involved in comparing and weighing different objects and using vocabulary related to mass. Three clear lesson plans: Lesson 1 - Main Lesson - Comparing two objects (Starter Lesson: Reviewing days of the week) Lesson 2 - Main Lesson - Comparing two objects and then introducing a third object to find the heaviest and lightest. There is extension worksheet for the more able to compare four objects. (Starter Lesson: Reviewing months of the year) Lesson 3 - Main Lesson - Using uniform non-standard units to find ‘how many …’ something weighs. (Starter Lesson: Review O’clock times and half hour times) Each lesson plan contains learning objectives, lesson starter, main activities and plenary - questions to ask and elicit from the children to make them think about how we can find something out. There are 3 PowerPoint Presentations on each of the topics which includes whole class lesson starters, pictures showing weighing of objects and explanations. Worksheet (x4) (fill in blank space): Comparing three objects - Children look at three pictures and then write the name of the object or animal which is heaviest or lightest. Worksheet (x4) (cut/paste): Arranging three objects above the words ‘heavy’ ‘heavier’ and ‘heaviest’ and ‘light’, ‘lighter’ and ‘lightest’.
