This is a St Patrick’s Day theme product which contains five different maths activities.

You can prepare the activity by cutting out the puzzles and having the children sort through to count and match the number of daffodils to the correct number or for the more able number words and number.
Alternatively, to improve their fine motor skills, place the sheets of paper on their tables and get the children to cut out and match the two sides of the puzzles. Once they are matched, they can stick them in their workbooks.

3 Sets of Worksheets
The presentation describes myths and legends and that sometimes myths and legends overlaps. Children learn about some of the mythical stories that are passed down from one generation to the next, e.g. why the leek and the dragon are symbols of Wales and the miracles St David carried out, e.g. making the blind see, why David is standing on a hill with a dove on his shoulder, the legend of the boy who tried to steal pigeons, the legend of the corpse candle.
Listening and speaking during the presentation.
The flexible lesson plan guides you through the presentation or you can just play the presentation which children interact with.
Differentiated gap-filling worksheets:
Worksheet 1 - Children use the words in the box to fill in the gaps.
Worksheets A and B: - Children work in twos and collaborate to complete their worksheet as each child has information the other children needs.
There is a teacher’s copy for the worksheets A and B.
Early finishers - During the presentation the children are given the opportunity to retell one or two of the legends they like best which they oral retell to the class.
When they come to do the worksheets, they recount one of the stories either using a worksheet with story boxes or write a short narrative and draw a picture

Lovebug Worksheets
Students count the hearts on each side of the bug and then write in the missing numbers in the equation and solve. Some reception children in the second term would be able to solve the equations and do the hidden hearts and roses worksheets.
7 Hidden Hearts Worksheets
These worksheets entail subtraction methods, either counting up to work out the answer or counting back.
Students can use the number track/line to help them. E.g. If there are 6 hearts and 2 are hidden, students can count up from 2 to get to 6 or use the 6 – 2 method.
Students can use their fingers or mental arithmetic strategies.

Differentiated Activity 1 - Lower Ability children cut out and sequence three pictures and write a simple sentence below each picture called St. Patrick and the Serpent.
Middle Ability - Cut out sentences and glue below the correct pictures to tell the story of St Patrick and the Serpent .
High Ability - Retell legend of St Patrick and the Serpent. First they draft and then write out neatly.

This resource relates to tens and ones place value worksheets. Now includes PDF fillable worksheets, which your students can complete on a computer device.
There is a total of 25 worksheets with three different activities.
Some students may require concrete objects to help them.
To make this a practical lesson together with the worksheets, you can set out base 10 towers or dienes, unifix cubes or other objects to help students set out tens and ones/units columns and then complete the worksheets.

This is a cut and paste activity. Students read the numbers in the circles and then look for the tens and ones towers that represent that number. They cut out and glue the correct tens and ones onto the blank boards.
Worksheets 1 to 6:
Students complete a table.
On the left-hand side are numbers. For each number students describe the number in tens and ones. Worksheet 1 shows the first example, e.g. the number 16 is 1 ten and 6 ones.
Extension opportunity: The more able can expand each number, so 16 would be 10 + 6

This product contains a set of worksheets relating to place value: tens and ones - No regrouping.
Aimed at: Year 1/Year 2; SEN
If your pupils are still struggling with the concept of partitioning/splitting numbers into tens and ones and adding and subtracting mentally, then this resource provides hands-on activity.
Once the pupils have grasped the basic, they can then match the tens and ones buttons to base 10 blocks.
Content:
Worksheets (x4) - Understanding numbers. Pupils count the buttons and draw around 10 and count on the ones. They write the number and partition it following the example on the worksheet. E.g Count 12, circle 10 buttons - write 10 and 2 and show that it is 1 ten and 2 ones.
Addition of two-digit numbers worksheets (x5) : The first page shows pupils an example (add the tens and then the ones) and then they complete the two sums. The remaining 4 worksheets require the pupils to cut and paste tens and ones to match the equations and then solve it.
Subtraction of two-digit numbers worksheets (x4 : The first worksheets explains that the pupils need to take away the tens and then the ones. E.g. 15 - 11 = Pupils cut and paste tens and ones for the first number only. Then they look at the second number ‘11’ and cross out the tens and then the ones.
Tens and ones Match up worksheets (x3) - Cut/paste activity - Pupils match up the tens and ones buttons to the base 10 towers and then write the number it represents.
Worksheets (x2): Counting from 10, counting on different numbers of buttons and from 20, counting on different numbers of buttons. There are couple of questions for the students to answer.
