The plenary is a listening activity whereby the children (eyes closed) listen to the number of drops of a small object, pennies, marble, multi-link cubes or even those tiny chocolate Easter eggs in a container and the children tell you how many drops they heard. You then check by counting out aloud with the children how many objects were dropped in the container.

A set of worksheets for children to practise spelling and writing words that have the same rime ending. The children can practise reading sight words and decodable words.
This practical resource contains cut and paste worksheets of 29 onset/rime words.

Onset and Rime 1 Worksheets - The cut/paste activity is in two parts. The student cuts out, sorts and then sticks each letter in the correct order to spell what the picture is.

A one hour lesson for children to explore repeating patterns in the context of Christmas.
The lesson should last 50 mins to 1 hour depending on how long your students take to design their patterns:
Introduction to set the scene: 10-15mins;
Main Lesson 15-20 mins;
Consolidation of lesson (work at table): 20 mins; and
Plenary/Closing session 5-10mins.
Bring in some Christmas wrapping paper with repeated patterns of pictures and/or shapes or you can display Slide 1 showing examples of Christmas patterns.
The children may have been wrapping presents or looking at wrapped presents. Focus their attention on the patterns.
This lesson takes children through looking at simple picture patterns and working out the next picture in the sequence.

What is repeated addition and how it is written (2 + 2 + 2 = 3 lots of 2 = 2 x 3), i.e 2 repeated 3 times.

Activity 1 (2 pages) - Children write repeated additions for the arrays shown.
Children that require support with the activities can write one repeated addition e.g. 2 + 2 + 2 whereas a more able child will be able to write two addition models: 2 + 2 + 2 and 3 + 3.
Activity 2 (2 pages) - (Extension) Same as above but the arrays are larger.
There is a small section on the worksheets where it asks children to show 3 lots of 4 and then circle the groups.

This is a phonics resource on consonant digraphs. It is an ideal addition to my other resources on consonant digraphs.
It is aimed at Keystage 1 and more able Foundation children, SEND and ESL students.

This lovely Christmas-themed resource is on matching sets to numbers and combining/adding together to make a total.
Aimed at: Foundation/Year 1, SEND, ESL students.
It relates to adding groups of objects to make a total 'How many altogether?' and writing the number to represent that group and then introducing the plus and equals sign to complete number sentences - Children still need to count the objects in the set and then work out the total.
This product contains:
- Teacher Notes/Lesson Guide - This explains the resources and guides you through the lesson by referring to Slides in the Presentation;
- PowerPoint Presentation (22 Slides) - includes whole class activities;

Worksheet(x5) (cut/paste): Comparing two objects - Children look at the two pictures and then cut out either heavier or lighter to complete each sentence.
Worksheet (x4) (fill in blank space): Comparing three objects - Children look at three pictures and then write the name of the object or animal which is heaviest or lightest.
Worksheet (x4) (cut/paste): Arranging three objects above the words ‘heavy’ ‘heavier’ and ‘heaviest’ and ‘light’, ‘lighter’ and ‘lightest’. Children cut out a set of pictures of their choice and arrange them in the appropriate order above the words. Please see example sheet in preview pane.
