A 15 slide full lesson presentation to develop students’ nonfiction writing skills. The lesson references the new AQA English Language exam and includes a markscheme for Paper 2, Section B although the resource could very easily be adapted to suit all specifications.
The theme of the lesson is ‘reality TV’ to engage students with the task of non-fiction writing for a specific audience.
The lesson includes a number of engaging activities including: individual and collaborative work, assessment opportunities and intervention and extension opportunities.
A 26 slide, two lesson presentation covering the poem 'Exposure' in detail. Annotations for the poem as well as example analytical paragraphs. The lessons feature a range of individual and collaborative tasks to develop students' understanding of the poem.
A 33 slide lesson presentation taking students through Paper 2 Section A of the June 2018 paper.
The presentation walks students through each question on Section A and provides opportunity for self assessment and reflection.
Model answers and a generic mark scheme for each question provided.

This would be an excellent resource to teach or revise the skills for Paper 2 Section A or to use after students have completed a mock using the 2018 paper to walk them through the strengths and weaknesses of their response.
15 slides to revise the AQA Power and Conflict poetry anthology. Each slide asks students to consider the how the title of the poem links to the last line. Great for a quick 5 minute burst of poetry revision at the beginning or end of the lesson.
A set of nine ‘5 Minute Writing Challenges’ that can be used as a quick starter to prepare students for GCSE English Language Paper 1, Section B.
I have found these particularly useful to ensure students are constantly recapping and going over the key skills needed for the different sections of the exam.

My students have struggled to get to grips with the structure question (question 3) on the new Paper 1, Section A exam for AQA. I recently attended an AQA support meeting and planned this lesson to incorporate some of the exam board's messages with regards to teaching the structure question. My students produced mucher better responses to question 3 after I went through this lesson with them.
The lesson is focused on the opening of '1984' and includes 15 slides plus a copy of the extract to use with students.

AQA English Language Paper 1 Section A Revision - Detailed Focus on Question 4
A series of six revision ‘masterclass’ lessons designed to improve students’ responses to question 4 on Paper 1. Students often struggle with this part of the paper so I have created this resource specifically to build students’ confidence in tackling this question.
Each lesson includes learning objectives, a starter and review activity, model answers and opportunities for students to self/peer assess and reflect upon their own progress.

A planning grid to use with students to develop the skills needed to analyse unseen non-fiction extracts for Paper 2, Section A of the English Language exam.
AQA state that students should be taught to read and analyse the whole text independently to prepare them for the exam. I found that using a similar planning grid for Paper 1, Section A really helped to give students a route into the text.
