This is a three-week (10 lesson) introductory SOW for introducing female voices and female representation in literature to year 9 though it is suitable for all ks3 and possibly ks4. Starting with five poems from Carol Ann Duffy’s The World’s Wife, then Havisham and Rupi Kaur’s ‘Progress’. All lessons link with retrieval, recall, specific method and vocab explicit teaching and a variety of engaging tasks and thought-provoking feminist notions. All lessons prep for lang paper 2 q2/4/4 style questions. Homework task sheet included. Knowledge organiser is available for this mini SOW too.

Diverse Voices through short stories: including Caleb Femi, My POlish teacher’s tie, Colours of Humanity, Tender Earth, May Malone. Under-represented voices in English. A mix of language, structure, holistic approaches in English. VERY engaging. Black voice, minority voices, polish voices. Includes KO, assessment, full SOW and lessons.

ENGAGING Great Expectations Scheme of Work Lessons

Approximately 4 week SOW for Great Expectations (could last 6 if needed and stretched!). Range of tasks designed for year 9 predominantly but could suit any of KS3. Focus on Havisham, Magwitch and pathetic fallacy. Complete with booklet and knowledge organiser resource. Looks at all AO skills from AQA ready for year 10.
