Differentiated rounding activity.
In each game board 4 mystery numbers have been rounded 4 different ways. The students must group ‘families’ of numbers together in the table and provide suggestions of what the original number could be.
Each board contain 16 rounded numbers.
There are 3 game boards:
Red: Rounding to the nearest 1000, 100, 10 and unit.
Amber: Rounding to the nearest 10, unit, 1 and 2 decimal places.
Green: Rounding to the nearest 1 and 2 decimal places, 2 and 3 significant figures.
Multiplying indices problem solving activity.
A fun problem solving activity that covers multiplying indices. Multiply the term on the outermost spinner by the adjacent term on the centre spinner. Turn the discs such that the calculation equates to the value on innermost spinner. To solve the puzzle all answers should line up correctly (SET A).
Or for a harder challenge ask students to fill in the blanks by thinking of their own questions (SET B).
Blank discs are included (SET C) to mix and match with Sets A and B.
A perfect starter activity, plenary or extended pair / group task.

Fractional & negative indices problem solving activity.
A fun problem solving activity that covers fractional and negative indices. Work out the value of the indices questions on the outer two spinners and turn the discs such that adjacent values are equal. Add a third inner spinner or mix it up with blank spinners and get students to write on equivalent values.
Angles in Parallel Lines Matching Activity.
Differentiated activity - 18 questions to match, 3 levels of difficulty.
Calculate missing angles in parallel line problems involving…
RED: F, C, Z;
AMBER: F, C, Z plus either angles on a line or opposite angles;
GREEN: Substitution to calculate given angle, parallelogram, trapezium.
Answers provided on a fully editable PowerPoint.

Prime Property Compound Interest Game
Game Play:
Players compete against one another to amass the most wealth over a predetermined number of laps around the board.
Whilst buying property is secure its value will not increase or decrease. Only cash balances will fluctuate due to compound interest.
All players begin at the square labelled ‘Start’.
Each player begins with $100
Each player will role the dice and move the required number of places around the board.
Each square represents a percentage increase or decrease.
The number of places moved represents the number of years of compound interest.
Player 1 rolls the dice, moves their counter the required number of spaces and calculates a revised budget.
Once your new budget has been calculated you can now ‘buy’ a property.
On your next go you will repeat the process using the remaining cash balance calculated on your last turn as your starting value.
Should you choose to sell your property to buy another you simply swap the cards, but remember to keep a note of your cash balance.
Full lesson. Includes clear, comprehensive PowerPoint presentation, thoroughly differentiated starter, and main and board game plenary.
Includes calculating simple and compound interest. Challenge problems to calculate the number of years n.

Container Clashes Percentage Change Board Game
Game Play:
Players compete against one another to amass the most wealth over a predetermined number of laps around the board.
Each player is assigned a trailer at random containing cash and merchandise in varying proportions. All trailers have the same initial asset value.
As the players travel around the board they are forced to sell one item from their container each time they land on ‘Sell’. Each ‘Sell’ has a designated profit or loss that must be calculated in order to determine the sale price of the sold item.
Each time a player lands on ‘Container’ all players can bid for a trailer item up to the value of the cash that they have available.
keep the container items face down so that the players don’t know
what they are bidding for!
There are some good, and
some bad so don’t get carried away
and bid too much!
There are 3 choices of game board:
RED 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40 and 50% Profit or Loss
AMBER 3, 5, 10, 15, 25, 30, 40, 45, 60, 75, 80 and 90% Profit or Loss
GREEN 2.5, 5, 7, 8, 9, 17, 28, 35, 64 and 97% Profit or Loss
The winner has the highest total asset value at the end.
