This presentation is part of our Women in History series, celebrating female role models. It features a range of women who contributed to the goal of space travel, from Dorothy Vaughan and Katherine Johnson and their contribution to the maths of space travel, to the women such as Sally Ride and Nicole Aunapu Mann who literally reached for the stars.

This is a presentation put together from the most up to date guidance and the UCAS webinar 30 March 2023. It outlines what should be included in each section and some of the information from questions asked at the webinar.

In the fast paced world qualities such as kindness can be overlooked, but research indicates that showing and receiving kindness support a lift in mood, making us feel happier and reducing anxiety. This presentation looks at the research and the benefits of being kind, what you can do, what the obstacles may be and the positive impact of volunteering. This series of 5 presentations follows on from https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/bitesize-study-skills-12806253 our first set of Bitesize Study Skills presentations and builds on the techniques visited there, but works as a stand alone set of presentations too. We want our students to do their best and achieve their full potential, but how much time do we spend teaching them how to study and get the most from their lessons, note-taking and revision? This resource uses up to date research to help you to support your students to adopt the best strategies for study and revision.

This presentation could be used as a starter during Women’s History Month, as examples of resilience, in Science, Music or English to exemplify what is possible. It outlines the contribution and legacy of the Curie family, in particular focusing on Marie Curie and her daughters. Marie Curie is a name known to most, but her 2 daughters and their spouses created their own body of work and lasting achievement.

With news reports and research commenting on the negative effects of young people viewing pornography, this is a presentation to look at the topic, underline the legal position and discuss healthy relationships and consent. Hospitality and Tourism offer many possibilities and can be accessed from numerous academic backgrounds. This presentation introduces students to possibilities in these sectors, while looking at the LMI for the food and beverage industry. It begins with a quiz on Forms to gauge student interest and awareness (the link to duplicate is in the Teaching Notes). The presentation includes optional discussion points and videos, so can be adapted to fit your time allocation. This assembly deals with the history behind St George (as well as the myth), looking at his roots far from England, who venerates him and how he came to be patron saint of England. It also looks at what he stands for; he was chosen as representing the knightly ideals, e.g. bravery and integrity and in religious terms as a Christian martyr, represents holding firm to his beliefs.

This presentation is in recognition of the growing vaping trend and includes links to videos and uses reputable sources to inform the slide content (credits in the Notes and Further Reading). The lesson uses up to date sources and has just been updated to include findings from a study reported in The Guardian in April 2023. Sixth form brings many new experiences, including turning 17 and learning to drive. This presentation underlines the dangers for young drivers, highlights particular risky behaviours and reminds about legal responsibilities. There are opportunities for discussion, links to further reading and to optional videos. It would work as a stand-alone session, but would also support revisiting content from a presentation from an emergency service. It is supported by a preliminary quiz on Forms to ascertain student perceptions of themselves as drivers and of gauging risk and a plenary quiz to check impact. Both are accessed via links to duplicate in the Teaching Notes.

Assembly or teaching resource for sixth form / post-16 students on International Women’s Day. Includes a pre- and post-session quiz to measure student understanding. The session deals with the history of IWD, women’s rights globally and women’s rights in the UK. Students also have the opportunity to consider the difference between equality and equity and to think about how they can promote gender equality.

This PowerPoint presentation is an opportunity for students to expand their awareness of where studying Biology A level or related level 3 subject could lead them.
