At least a double lesson worth of content and activities to discuss food hygiene.
It can be used in various subjects:
SCIENCE (Biology) to link to microorganisms, pathogens and disease (including Semmelweis)
FOOD TECH to discuss the importance of handling food correctly and avoiding contamination
TUTOR TIME/PSHE to discuss cleanliness
Most activities are quick and require minimal preparation (details of milk practical are included in word file)
The debate can be spread over to another lesson allowing you to set preparation for homework
Extension activities are mentioned in notes sections as are links to further information about topics should you wish to cover a topic in more detail
A selection of activities to investigate energy transfer including a fun activity making ice cream. All can be done in a classroom with only basic equipment so can be done by all ages. The investigations can we done as a quick activity as part of a longer lesson or they can be extended by asking students to use them as inspiration to design their own investigations which will support ISA preparation for the new GCSEs.
Data collected can also be used for data interpretation activities, again to support the mathematical elements of the new GCSE curriculum.

An activity for teachers and parents that can be carried out at school, at home or as homework for all key stages. The activity includes suggested activities, some examples of use and printable binoculars to print and use or just for inspiration. I have provided a Power Point of images taken through my homemade binoculars to provoke inspiration and as in introduction to the idea. It also allows the activity to continue on a rainy day.

Once you have taught the factors that affect the rate of reaction this is a fun way to embed the knowledge whilst also having a bit of fun. You could also teach it as an introduction to the topic, allowing students to learn from the demonstration as opposed to applying existing knowledge to the demo. Contains plans for both student led and teacher led as well as differentiation ideas

Activity can take 30 minutes to an hour depending on how you run it and whether you discuss the extensions
New style assessment with 20 multiple choice questions and 26 marks of written questions. It is quite difficult so allow enough time for your students to answer. My students found it challenging as they are not used to multiple choice questions but they are improving with every assessment - more to follow :)

AS/A level Chemistry actvity with accompanying lesson plan
A problem solving lesson plan applying students knowledge of combustion, enthalpy, infrared spectroscopy and mass spectrometry to a situation. A fictitious company 'Blue Bird Motoring' are looking for a new fuel to use in their new car design to beat the land speed record. The students have to work in groups to work out what each fuel is and then use the data provided to work out which fuel would be most efficient (maths skills). Students must then write a full report back the company (literacy) detailing everything they have found out.
My students were thoroughly engaged and there are a few red herrings in there to confuse them and ensure they check their work. The graphs can be a little hard for them to interpret so they need to use all the other information to help them reach an answer. i would suggest giving students a double lesson to complete all aspects of the task.
Applicable to both new specification and old specification OCR and possibly AQA

The resource is designed to help reduce your planning time by providing you with the main specification points for each topic so you can focus on making lessons creative and engaging. Each sub-topic includes a few quick multiple choice questions (MCQ) to assess students learning (AFL)
I print the worksheets out 6 to a page to save on paper and challenge the students to finish one before coming to get the next and set a timer. Each problem only takes a couple of minutes and the students can challenge themselves to complete as many as they can in the given time. Alternatively they can be displayed and students can work through them independently or on the board as a class. The problems get more complex as they go on and ensure students use the key terms and definitions they should have learned from the Power Point.

A 54 mark assessment made up of 14 multiple choice questions and the rest long answer questions
The self assessment sheet breaks down each question by topic so students can quickly see which topics they are confident in and which topics require further work.
I use the self-assessments in a similar way to PLCs and ask the students to keep them in their notes to refer to as a starting point for revision
A simple adaptation of the coffee shop style loyalty cards. Add your school logo to the first page and print them out double sided, multiple per page to make them credit card size.
The students name is written in the box at the top and the teacher signs each little book every time the student attends a revision session. We found them to be a great incentive for students to attend sessions.
Once the card is complete the student placed it in a collection box and we organised a prize draw every half term/term (depending on the amount of sessions scheduled)
Prizes included Amazon gift cards and stationary/supplies to help with revision and exam preparation
3 lists for each of the A level Sciences.
Suitable for all learners in preparation for their A levels and throughout the course to support their UCAS applications
My students are always asking me for a good list of wider reading books so I have compiled a list for each A level
Some books are tricky to source/expensive so schools could consider investing in some titles for their library at school or organise a loan scheme
Great to hand out to parents or guardians at A level options evenings to help motivate their children
Suitable for KS2/KS3 and KS4 Biology/Science
Activity;
-Print out the words and cut them out separately.
-Hide them around the classroom/outside space
-Students have to come in and try and find one of each word (4 in total) - they must leave any duplicates where they are for other students to find
There are not enough of each word for every student so only some students will ‘survive’
Depending on how the students find the words you could discuss competition/survival of the fittest/Adaptation/could they survive with the resources they have?
It is great fun and really gets the energy up for the start of the lesson plus the students will learn about 4 things living organisms require to survive
An activity designed to encourage students to learn about different career paths. Students should learn about various occupations and what the role involves as well as discuss the link between the job and a current news topic.
Resources:
Cards with a selection of careers and small summary/job description
5 current news articles in printer friendly format
NB: Not all occupations can be related to each article but the activity should promote discussion and open students eyes to a selection of different career paths.
Extension:
Add more occupations
Ask students to provide the article for the next lesson (to encourage an interest in current affairs)
Can be completed as a regular tutor time activity or as part of a careers lesson
Promotes thinking outside the box, discussion, research, collaborative thinking and application of knowledge.
We all love celebrating Halloween but we don't often know why Halloween is celebrated. These resources cover some of he historical aspects of Halloween and El Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The activities are linked to areas of various science curricula but is on the whole a cross-curricular resource for use around October 31st/November 1st.
Suitable for all ages as you can select appropriate activities for your age group
The topics covered include:
The history of the Day of the Dead, Halloween and All Saints Day
Ofrenda and the classical elements, earth, wind, fire and water
Marigolds and their significance (plant dissection)
The monarch butterfly and its significance (life cycle of a butterfly)
The cyclical nature of agriculture (intensive farming, organic farming, hydroponics etc.)
Each resource has multiple activities including basic discussion tasks and more detailed research based tasks. Where possible I have added ideas for alternative ways to carry out the activity in-case you wish to use it as a tutor time activity or whole lesson plan
I hope this to be a multi-national resource as we all celebrate in different ways and our beliefs and traditions are all influenced by different historical events.
