The story ‘Lubna and Pebble’ is a wonderful story about a child and her dad seeking a new life. Children will recognise the need for friendship and the bonds Lubna forms. A handout for ‘Sunflower Seeds’ by Monika Singh Gangotra. It provides children with all the key definitions required for developing a deeper understanding of the text. Terms referenced are: discrimination, racism, melanin and colourism. Teaching staff are advised that they should have a good understanding of these concepts and terms before discussing with pupils.
