Explain about Brexit through art with this cool art lesson and fact file. Brexit has seen Great Britain (The United Kingdom) leave the European Union (The EU). This was a momentous historic political event which is still having repercussions. This lesson plan engages students in discussion about the event and encourages them to develop artwork based on this political issue using images associated with the event. The resource also includes a clear fact file about the event to inform teachers and students. Suitable for Key Stage 3 students.

Art and Science Cover Lesson

Need an art or science cover lesson that can be followed by a non specialist? This might do it. A nice little lesson that encourages students to explore the sculptural work of artist Luke Jerram as well as the properties of viruses. His glass sculptures recreate the complex forms of viruses like the common cold and Covid. Once students have done some background research, they are then encouraged to start developing their own artwork based on viruses. A great way of linking art and science. The lesson plan is super easy to follow. It’s not grade specific because all ages can explore the theme here at their own level. The activities should keep students engaged for at least an hour. it could also be used as the starting point of a more extensive project.

Art Video Demonstration. Draw steps in perspective

(0)
This six minute long video provides clear demonstrations of how to draw steps in perspective. Two drawing demos show steps being drawn first from the front and then from an angle. A great resource to clearly show students how to build up three dimensional drawings using guide lines. Really useful not only as an initial demo, but also to play on loop whilst students work, so that they can glance up and remind themselves of the techniques. This video resource has no narration - it is designed as visual support which the teacher can talk over the top of if necessary, however that is not necessary because it is self explanatory. The visuals are accompanied by background music.
