Art Observational Drawing Demonstration Video

This Art video lesson shows kids how to do an observational drawing using biro pen. Suitable for all ages … even adults! A clear demonstration shows how to build up the shape and form of the object (in this case a flower) using line and then tone. The video can be used as the basis of a classroom lesson or alternatively could be sent to students who are currently in lock-down and having to do distance learning. It is quite useful to have the video running on loop on the whiteboard whilst students are doing drawing exercises so that they can remind themselves of the process whenever they want. This is one of a series of video demonstrations. Why not check out our store to see more. Teachers are welcome to email us images of the work produced and we will provide constructive feedback and support. Use this email address. starteducationuk@gmail.com

The video is completely self explanatory. All you need to provide is paper, pencils (or graphite sticks), felt pens and biros. Ideal as an hour long stand alone activity, or as the start to a wider project on Japanese popular culture. This seven minute long video provides clear demonstrations of 1 point, 2 point and 3 point (aerial) perspective. A great resource to clearly show students how to build up three dimensional drawings using guide lines. Really useful not only as an initial demo, but also to play on loop whilst students work, so that they can glance up and remind themselves of the techniques. This video resource has no narration - it is designed as visual support which the teacher can talk over the top of if necessary, however that is not necessary because it is self explanatory. The visuals are accompanied by background music.
