This is the antidote to the SATs. Questions for children to answer in the way that they want to answer them. They cannot be wrong because all the questions ask for their own opinions. This is an opportunity to focus on the individual child, reminding them that their thoughts and views count and that we are truly interested in them. Questions ask them about their favourite things, their activities and their views on school and life in general. ..... and what is even better - there is no marking needed. Simply read their answers and have a chat about them. Even if you don't fancy using this resource, let's not forget that school and education can be fun, can be stress free and is about nurturing unique individuals, not mass producing little learning robots.

Worried about marking A level and AS artwork this summer term? We are now marking out of 96 and have no idea of where the grade boundaries might be. The current government workforce challenge reports state, amongst other things that all staff should work from schemes of study. This resource can provide this. This resource offers 38 thorough, linked Art lesson plans for Key Stage 3. All plans include differentiation, a step by step plan, resources lists and a student friendly hand-out. Topics range from formal drawing to abstraction, ceramics to wire construction. The US version of this resource is a "Top Seller". These lesson plans were devised in an Ofsted "Outstanding" Art department.

This simple resource will allow you to show your class how you think they are performing. The slides provide a range of emoticons that can be displayed on the white board. Perhaps start the lesson with the neutral face (slide 6), and as the lesson progresses, change the slide to either show positive participation (move up through the slides), or areas for improvement (move down through the slides) Children respond positively to visual stimuli, and this could be an effective way of encouraging self reflection. You could even keep a lesson by lesson tally using the scoring system on each slide so that they are encouraged to beat their last efforts.
