This is a five lesson art unit focusing on Abstract Expressionism and Action Art. Five exciting lessons that lead students through a range of expressive ways of working including gestural drawing and expressive use of paint.
Each lesson includes a clear explanation of the activities, links to artists, materials list, timing, extension activity and assessment.
Need an art or science cover lesson that can be followed by a non specialist? This might do it. A nice little lesson that encourages students to explore the sculptural work of artist Luke Jerram as well as the properties of viruses. His glass sculptures recreate the complex forms of viruses like the common cold and Covid.
Once students have done some background research, they are then encouraged to start developing their own artwork based on viruses. A great way of linking art and science. The lesson plan is super easy to follow.
It’s not grade specific because all ages can explore the theme here at their own level.
