This big bundle contains all of the special words and stories lessons, plus the knowledge organiser! The engaging and informative lessons develop children’s understanding of the Bible, the Megillat Esther, and the Guru Granth Sahib, as special books of the Christian, Jewish and Sikh faiths respectively. Children learn key facts about the books, important information about stories that these books contain, and how the books are treated by worshippers. Furthermore, they consider their own personal spirituality, considering the stories and books that are special to them. The are six lessons included, which should be taught in the following order: 1.The Bible 2.Personal Beliefs 3.The Lord’s Prayer 4.The Megillat Esther 5.The Guru Granth Sahib 6.Comparing Special Books In each lesson, the learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through a step-by-step learning journey. In the engaging and comprehensive lessons, students are introduced to each of the five pillars of Islam: Shahada Salah Zakah Sawm Hajj Each lesson provides students with an in-depth understanding of the pillar, through a range of comprehension, knowledge recall, and creative activities. Children also consider their own personal spirituality, discussing important concepts such as perseverance, tolerance and respect. The lessons are tried and tested, and the nature of the colouful, step-by-step PowerPoint presentations (averaging around 17-18 slides per lesson) makes them easy for teachers and students to follow. This wide-ranging and comprehensive RE quiz contains 40 questions. It was originally designed for high attaining year 5/6 classes as an end of term activity, but may also be suitable for lower KS3 groups. Questions are split into 8 rounds of 5 questions each. It was originally taught as a part of an RE unit on ‘Special Places’ and so assumes some prior knowledge of churches and mosques (I have uploaded the prior lessons on this). The lesson introduces synagogues. The learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through the following step-by-step journey: -Knowledge recall - gauging what children already know about special places in Christianity and Islam; -Being introduced to synagogues and their key features; -Using a provided worksheet/ template to find similarities and differences between churches, mosques and synagogues; -Creating their own special places; -Completing a plenary activity to assess their understanding; -Self-reflecting on the extent to which they feel they have met the learning objective.
