These whole class reading sessions aim to develop children’s comprehension skills, whilst introducing them to the novels of popular children’s author Eva Ibbotson. The three sessions include the extracts/ texts and presentations for the whole class reading sessions on: -Journey to the River Sea -The Abominables -The Ogre of Oglefort Each whole class reading session contains a series of activities aiming to develop children’s retrieval, explanation, inference, prediction and summarising skills. There is also a vocabulary check immediately after each extract is read to clarify any unfamiliar/ difficult language. The tasks are comprised of quick-check questions, solo thinking, pair/ group discussions and deeper thinking activities. The sessions are best suited for children with years 4-6, although with minor adaptations they could feasibly be used with slightly younger and older year groups. This bundle contains a series of 3 completely original, engaging and thought-provoking collective worship sessions aiming to build children’s understanding of St. Peter. Each session focuses on a different aspect of Peter’s life: Jesus Calls Peter The Denial of Peter The Restoration of Peter Each worship session follows a colourful and comprehensive PowerPoint presentation which guide the worship leader and the children through the worship journey, including opportunities for recall, engagement with scripture, drama-based activities (session 2 contains an original script), videos (hyperlinked), hymns and prayer. Towards the end of each session, children are encouraged to reflect on their own personal spirituality, in response to deep and relevant discussion questions. This worship sessions are tried and tested, and have always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. If everything is kept in each session, they take around 30 minutes each to deliver, but you may choose to edit or amend some elements of the session. No further resources are required - everything that you need to present the sessions is included!
