This bundle contains all 6 of the ‘Special Ways of Living’ RE lessons, in addition to the ‘Special Ways of Living’ knowledge organiser. These engaging and informative lessons develop KS1 children’s understanding of how people of different faiths choose to live their lives in special ways. There are two lessons each focusing on the Christian, Buddhist and Muslim faiths respectively. The lessons should be taught in the following order: Christianity - The Good Samaritan (belief in compassion/ forgiveness); Christianity - The Life of a Vicar Buddhism - How Buddhists Live Buddhism - Buddhist Monks and Nuns Islam - Muslim Prayer Islam - The Holy Month of Ramadan In each lesson, the learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through a step-by-step learning journey. There are also all of the reading and worksheets included - everything that you need to teach the lessons. In the past, I have used these resources with children from across Key Stage 1 - the key learning is aligned with curriculum expectations for RE, and also the content prescribed by most diocese regions. There are six lessons in total, with two lessons each focusing on the Christian, Buddhist and Muslim faiths respectively. In this engaging lesson, students are introduced to the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. They gather knowledge the rituals that Muslims follow and consider the reasons behind these practices. The learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through the following step-by-step journey: -Recalling their prior learning about how other religions (Christians and Buddhists) live in special ways; -Learning about the Holy Month of Ramadan - when it happens, what people do and why they do it; -Learn about how the fasting ends each day, and the purpose and composition of Iftar meals; -Create their own Iftar meals, containing foods from each of the necessary food groups for replenishing energy; -Considering how Eid Al-Fitr compares to celebrations in other religions; -Self-reflecting on the extent to which they feel they have met the learning objectives. This resource pack includes the comprehensive PowerPoint presentation (14 slides) and the template for the iftar activity (in Word and PDF). In this engaging lesson, students are introduced to how Muslims pray. They consider the rituals that these people follow and the reasons behind their processes. The learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through the following step-by-step journey: -Recalling their prior learning about how Christians and Buddhists live in special ways; -Learning about the Muslim ritual of praying 5 times a day, and consider their own daily cycles; -Learn other key facts about Muslim prayer, for example how they are called to prayer and the rituals that they follow - aided by the use of interesting videos (hyperlinked); -Comparing and contrasting how Muslims pray compared with other religions; -Self-reflecting on the extent to which they feel they have met the learning objectives. This resource pack includes the comprehensive PowerPoint presentation (16 slides) , the resources for the routine activity (in Word and PDF) and the hyperlink for the videos.
