Adhering to structure specific to a writing genre is necessary to generate a cohesive whole. This flipbook will scaffold the structural components of an opinion piece at every stage of the writing process. WHAT’S INCLUDED: Poster defining ‘Persuasive Writing’ Posters/Anchor Charts on the five ways to begin an Introduction: a scene, a quotation, a definition, a hypothetical question and a strong statement. Posters/Anchor Charts on the three Body paragraphs and one concluding paragraph. ** These posters/anchor charts provide a visual structural example of how a persuasive piece is written.. You also have the option of writing your own writing prompt. THE INTRODUCTION Prompt for students to include a hook, their opinion and a thesis statement. THE BODY Guideline for students to include a topic sentence for each of the three reasons, followed by supporting details and a concluding sentence. There are two templates for the body paragraphs. THE CONCLUSION Checklist for students to include a summary statement to re-state their opinion, brief summary of the reasons provided and a call to action. PREPARATION Have students compile all sections of the flipbook prior to research and writing. This flipbook is sure to make the entire experience of writing, not just enjoyable, but more meaningful.

These cards feature colourful Easter themed illustrations to make abstract content more concrete and meaningful. There are two styles to the Recording Sheets, one scaffolded to elicit the desired response, and the other includes blank answer sections. The multiplication skills for the 1-12 times tables reinforced in this pack are: writing a multiplication fact for an addition number sentence writing a multiplication fact for a given array writing the missing factor writing the product of two given numbers writing a multiplication fact for a given illustration (group, collection) filling in the blanks with numbers next in sequence Writing the place value amount relating multiplication and addition product of a square number completing the multiplication facts for illustrations problem solving using illustrations There are two sets of Recording Sheets (Numbers 1-16 and 17-32). Your students will enjoy knowing the answers to these and many more interesting questions with this 20 QR Code Hunt Fun Facts pack on April Fools’ Day. WHAT’S INCLUDED 20 QR Code Cards on April Fools’ Day 2 Recording Sheets 2 page Answer Key 17 Writing Templates featuring Easter images; 1 blank poster included for students to self-illustrate. Banners (plain and decorated) ACTIVITY Place the 20 QR Code Cards around the classroom. Students can work individually, in pairs, or in small groups to find the answers to all 20 questions on their recording sheets. They must scan the QR Code to find the answer for each corresponding question on their recording sheets. Students make an educated guess about the possible answer prior to scanning. Early finishers who complete the Qr Code Hunt can design their posters. They write 2-3 facts on a template of their choice. EVIDENCE OF LEARNING Wrap-up the activity by getting students together and asking them to share the facts they found the most interesting. They may refer to their recording sheets and posters. ** These cards will assess students’ prior knowledge or alternatively pique their interest for them to want to scan the code to reveal the answer. Some cards also have picture clues (without giving away too much) to set up students for success. ONLINE SECURITY Once a QR code is scanned, students are not directed to a website but rather to a text only link. If the QR Code Reader app attempts to display the answer with a web browser, choose the option of view in ‘plain text’ in settings/preferences.

Content This unit comprises of the following activities: Four tasks that facilitate an understanding of what it means to budget wisely. ➀ My Lucky Week (editable) Planning expenses with no relation to income. Students get a feel of expenses and work with decimal numbers to calculate total cost. ➁ On a Budget (editable) Planning expenses in relation to a stipulated income. Students need to determine how to best budget to keep their expenses less than the given income. ➂ Reaching My Goal (editable) Planning expenses in relation to a given income and achieving a short term goal. Students work out a spending plan to achieve a short-term goal. ➃ My Personal Budget (editable) Drawing up a personal budget plan on the basis of personal income received and wants. Students determine the feasibility of a budget plan through constructed reflection. Here’s one: Lay cards around the classroom. When the teacher calls ‘scoot’ students pick up a card and write their response on the provided Recording Sheet. Students can only move when ‘scoot’ is called out. If the student does not finish solving the problem on a card, he/she can continue to spend more time on it, but must wait till the teacher calls out ‘scoot’. You can also have this as a silent activity where students move around quietly solving all the task cards without the teacher calling out ‘scoot’. At the culmination of the activity, project the cards on the interactive whiteboard and discuss the answers with the class. Alternatively, place answer sheets at a Centre for students to self-check.
