Phonemic Awareness Bundle 4; Letters {JZWVYXQ} features interactive print-n-go sheets, sight words practice, CVC Words, resources (flipbooks, crowns, wristbands) and classroom displays (flashcards, anchor charts/posters) to teach and reinforce phonemic awareness for the letters /j/,/z/,/w/,/v/,/y/,/x/,/q/
Each letter pack facilitates students to decode, blend, and segment so they will be able to read basic VC, CVC words and sight words. Activities do not simply focus on decoding or letter sound identification but rather CVC words/word families are introduced in addition to sight words to lay the foundation for developing and building upon strong reading fluency skills.
Why the letters {JZWVYXQ} ?
This is because they follow the letters SATPINC, KEHRMD and GOULFB in the Phonics 1 series and can be arranged to spell different words thus building and developing essential reading skills along the way. Both uppercase and lowercase letters are introduced so students can see the difference.

Suggested Use
The activities are fairly simple, yet challenging and scaffold the acquisition of key skills, especially finding all possible outcomes using Grids and Tree Diagrams. The task cards may be placed at maths centres and used to further build and practise skills. They range in complexity and thus cater to differentiation. Needless to say, they are ideal for your early finishers.

SUGGESTED USE
♦ You may break up the activity and have students do cards 1-16 during one session and 17-32 the next. There are 2 recording sheets for this purpose.
♦ I generally have cards 1-16 placed on one section of the classroom walls, and cards 17-32 on the opposite side. This is to cater to all; students who would perhaps need more time and the early finishers.
