2 activities attached.
Homework Activity:
Students must look for a variety of containers at home that contain liquid. Can they find the number on the label that tells them how many litres (l) or millilitres (ml) they hold?
They must then find three containers to bring in to school. One should be about 1 litre, one should be about half a litre (or about 500 millilitres) and the last should be much smaller than half a litre.
Worksheet Activity:
For this activity, present the children with a variety of empty containers (labelled A to F). You could use ‘some’ of the containers the children brought in for homework.
Students must then estimate the volume of each container.
They must then record the actual measurements and finally calculate the difference between their estimate and actual measurement.
**Both activities are fully editable.

BIDMAS is a helpful acronym what reminds children (and adults!) what order to complete operations in, when faced with a complicated sum. BIDMAS stands for brackets, indices, division, multiplication, addition, and subtraction.
Sometimes, the order of operations will make a big impact on the final answer, so it’s a great idea to have a standardised order to work through. This way, you know everyone will get the same answer every time.
You might also hear BIDMAS referred to as BODMAS. Different people in different places have slightly different names for the order of operations, but they mean the same thing. In BODMAS, the O stands for ‘order’ instead of ‘indices’. These terms can be used interchangeably.
Attached is a BIDMAS teaching video + 12 fully editable sets of worksheets (with answers).
