Times Tables Flash Cards & Tracking Success Sheet Every child can use this excellent times tables tracking / success sheet. Children work in pairs (using the flash cards provided) and progress at their own rate. Times tables are consolidated and tested frequently. When a child is able to recite a ‘set’ of times tables flash cards in random order (without mistakes or hesitation), a person will write their initials in the attempt box on the tracking sheet and date it. A child needs 3 initials (3 correct attempts) to move onto the next set of flash cards. Once a child has completed a whole stage, an adult will test them. WORD OF THE WEEK A great activity to develop vocabulary and sentence-building! Just choose a word you want to focus on (e.g. tractor). Divide the children into pairs and ask them to find specific vocabulary related to the word (the words have to begin with the letters in the word). For an additional challenge, each word can be put into a sentence. E.g. the word tractor has 7 letters so the children have to find 7 words associated with tractor… T = Tyres Sentence: Tractors have large tyres with thick treads. A great way of celebrating a child’s birthday in your class! Celebrate a child’s birthday by allowing the class to “interview” the birthday child (hot seating). Then complete the birthday booklets (there are differentiated booklets for boys and girls). There is also a separate booklet for the ‘birthday child’ to complete. Once the booklets have been completed, just staple them together and send them home for the birthday child to keep.
