This is an introductory practical lesson to demonstrate how pupils measure time and teaches them the importance of accuracy. This resource pack contains: A PPT (14 slides) and handouts (2 sheets) . Included in this resource is two of our timers complete with MUSIC. Activities include: Starter Task: Thinking Skills question Activity on on recording time digitally. Pupils will find out when completing the challenges that they won’t be accurate. Therefore, they will want to repeat challenge reinforcing the need for repeat experiments to find averages. Experiment on measuring different times and two practical challenges. Plenary (Exit task) : Think, Pair Share- Please note… This Exit Task/Plenary is designed to draw out the findings of the measuring time activities. These being that the children will learn that using a stop click to seconds and hundredths of seconds will give them a precise time. However, this is not 100% accurate due to human error (reaction times). You should discuss how to improve on accuracy ( use of repeats and find an average). Pull the udder one! A completely customisable true or False activity. This particular one is based on renewable energy. Pupils love the interaction shouting moo (true) or quacking for false statements. This can be used as a starter, plenary or an AFL checkpoint activity throughout the lesson.

Jesus: Jesus miracle timer This is a really fun timer selection for use in any lesson. We created it to use when teaching a lesson on Jesus’ Miracles. If you love our other timers you will certainly love this! It comes complete with music! This is a fun countdown timer that can be used as a time management tool in any lesson. You have a choice between a 30 seconds, 1, 2, 3, 5 or minute timer. You can alter the timings in the animation pane to make the timer shorter or longer should you so wish. Energy Efficiency Lesson This is a fully differentiated lesson teaching pupils about energy efficiency It is suggested that you include a practical such as the custard powder with Bunsen burner experiment. A you tube link for this is included within the energy efficiency PPT should you wish to show the pupils without conducting the experiment yourself. Periodic Table : Chemical Elements - Playing Cards Snap or Go Fish This pack contains 118 playing cards that can be printed out onto card and used as a fun resource to use when teaching the periodic table and chemical elements. We recommend that you print out TWO sets and use them and pupils can use them to play snap with the deck.Alternatively, ‘go fish’ whereby all cards are put face down on the table and pupils have to try to match pairs. In both cases the person with the most sets wins. It is entirely up to you how you prepare these cards, But we recommend that you print them out, in colour onto paper or card cut around the top and bottom card (on the top and bottom left). We then fold the middle section and glue the pieces together and laminate the card to ensure it’s durability. Alternatively, you can just use the front of the card for ease of use.
