Comic Strip Art

This is a very fun lesson in which I spent half a day creating with my class. It involves learning about the artist Roy Lichenstein while creating a fun comic strip like creation. This is a perfect 'end of term' activity and children genuinely had a great day engaging with this type of art. The resource includes a colourful, detailed notebook, which contains lots of links to video clips and details on how to make this creation (step-by-step). It also includes a lesson plan. Persuasive Writing Year 4

A wonderful week of Literacy lessons planned and resourced here for Year 4 Persuasive Writing. This is week 1 of persuasive writing unit which I did last year and have made some improvements. It immerses children in persuasive language and techniques to persuade their reader. These lessons are based around 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and by the end of the week, children will create their own advertisement for a new chocolate product. Children are taught to use: *exaggeration *word-play *snappy slogans *tempting benefits *eye-catching illustrations and writing This resource package comes with a wealth of resources to ensure that all children understand and utilize the persuasive techniques needed to sell a product. (On the plus side, it's about a chocolate product, which keeps it interesting for them). Prepositions are taught as a starter also to incorporate SPAG into the week of Literacy. This package included: -a clear, detailed lesson plan -3 different powepoints -printable advertisements to annotate -illustrations for children's products -success criteria -planning grid Please leave a review and let me know what you found useful or not and I'll be happy to update the resource.

World Cup 2022 Qatar: Maths

Enjoy some fun Maths activities by engaging the children with the World Cup 2022. The country of Qatar is getting ready for 2022, so why shouldn’t we? A mathematical activity to engage children with converting units of measure (World Cup Theme). Lesson Plan included. Familiarise the children with the layout of the stadiums. Children must measure the distance between a letter and a stadium. Then because 1cm=35 minutes, they must then calculate how long it would take to get to said stadium. For example: How long will it take A to get to Lusail stadium? Using your ruler, measure the distance from A to Lusail stadium. If it’s 7.6 cm- round to the nearest whole number which is 8cm. 1cm = 35 minutes so 35 x 8 = 280 minutes =4 hours 40 minutes Children must then fill in a table with their findings. A fun activity for the whole class. Please let me know what you and your class thought of this resource- I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. I have included a map of Qatar with the football stadiums.

Multiplication Revision Game Year 4/5

Multiplication Revision Game Year 4/5

(0)
This is a game I play frequently with my class at the end of the multiplication topic/year to check assessment. The picture as the cover image shows the lower ability game. This resource is differentiated for higher abilities and middle abilities. This game works exactly like X's and O's, except children must solve the question within the box of their choice, get the answer correct before they can put an X or an O in. My class absolutely love this game, and the higher ability game provides a great challenge with *missing number multiplication *two-digit multiplication *multiplying decimals. A really successful game, which is really useful come the end of the year. Please leave a review and check out my other resources: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/Morrisr9
Reception High Frequency Words Game

Reception High Frequency Words Game

(0)
This resource is a fun way to encourage children to read the high frequency words in Reception. They will need to be cut out, with the elephant stuck to the back of the word and then laminated. Once they're done once, you'll have them forever. It consists of a selection of the high frequency words at Reception level, with a colourful background to keep them interested. You will need to print two copies of this resource in order to play the game. I played it in groups of 4: *Give each child in the group an even amount of cards. *Instruct them to leave them all in front of them (elephant facing up). *The first child must place their first card down, sound it out/read it. *The next child repeats etc until there is two of the same words placed one after the other. *They all must race to say SNAP if two cards sitting on top of each other are the same word. *The person to say it first, gets all of the cards in the pile and they begin again. This resource can be used as an extension activity for early finishers, or as a revision tool at the end of the year, or even as your weekly game to expose children to these words more frequently. KS2 Class Assembly

KS2 Class Assembly

I created this playscript for my Year 5 class to perform this year. We spent a number of weeks on persuasive writing, so I thought it would be a fantastic way to show off the techniques they had learned in persuasive techniques. I based it around the TV show Dragon's Den. The Assembly has 4 dragons in which the contestants must persuade to buy their products using persuasive techniques. There is a narrator role also, which explains what's going on throughout the play. This playscipt is easy to adapt and was really funny to watch as well as show off what the children had learned. Mental Maths Support Booklet- Year 3

(0)
***A 20 PAGE MENTAL MATHS SUPPORT BOOKLET*** This is a booklet I created to support a year 3 child with their mental maths. I am a private tutor and a class teacher so I like to have 'go to' booklets and resources to use for my tutoring sessions. This booklet is aimed to bring a year 3 child up to speed with mental maths for term 1. However, it's a good starting point for any child in KS2 who is not confident in their mental maths. The objectives covered in this booklet are: Use place value and number facts to add and subtract numbers Subtract by counting up Learn to count in 3’s and 4’s and know the 3x and 4x table. Add and subtract any two digit numbers by counting on in 10s and 1s or by using partitioning Perform place value subtractions without a struggle (536-30=506) Know multiples of 10 with a total of 100 Know pairs with each total to 20 Please leave a review and be sure to check out some of my other resources at: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/Morrisr9
Similes and Metaphors: OBSERVATION

Similes and Metaphors: OBSERVATION

(0)
Graded: Outstanding This is a lesson that I did for an observation today with the English coordinator. It's a lesson on Tanka poetry. Children learned what a Tanka was the day before, but today they needed to create a bank of similes, metaphors and adjectives to enhance their descriptions that they will use in their poem later in the week. I have differentiated this activity, by providing scaffolding support for the SEN/EAL children in my class. The lesson, as a whole, was intended to be a mixed ability lesson. However, as it was an observation, I needed to include some form of extra support/ scaffolding for some children. This lesson is linked to the Vikings and children need to describe what it would be like to leave their lovely homeland with the beautiful scenery. The resource includes: *a clear, detailed lesson plan, *picture to annotate *powerpoint to explain the meaning of a Tanka (if needed prior to the lesson) *basic flipchart for referall as a class *simile and metaphor sort *simile and metaphor sort (EAL/SEN).
