Class Assembly: Myths and Legends

I used this as a class assembly this week and have made the necessary changes to the script that I made throughout rehearsals. This script shows what we learned as a class through story-telling and acting out the myth of Icarus and Daedalus and the legend of the Loch Ness monster. (Scottish Accents included). It is done in the form of Myths and Legends X Factor with judges and a presenter. Both parents and children adored it.

KS2 Class Assembly

I created this playscript for my Year 5 class to perform this year. We spent a number of weeks on persuasive writing, so I thought it would be a fantastic way to show off the techniques they had learned in persuasive techniques. I based it around the TV show Dragon's Den. The Assembly has 4 dragons in which the contestants must persuade to buy their products using persuasive techniques. There is a narrator role also, which explains what's going on throughout the play. This playscipt is easy to adapt and was really funny to watch as well as show off what the children had learned. ***A 20 PAGE MENTAL MATHS SUPPORT BOOKLET*** This is a booklet I created to support a year 3 child with their mental maths. I am a private tutor and a class teacher so I like to have 'go to' booklets and resources to use for my tutoring sessions. This booklet is aimed to bring a year 3 child up to speed with mental maths for term 1. However, it's a good starting point for any child in KS2 who is not confident in their mental maths. The objectives covered in this booklet are: Use place value and number facts to add and subtract numbers Subtract by counting up Learn to count in 3’s and 4’s and know the 3x and 4x table. Add and subtract any two digit numbers by counting on in 10s and 1s or by using partitioning Perform place value subtractions without a struggle (536-30=506) Know multiples of 10 with a total of 100 Know pairs with each total to 20 Please leave a review and be sure to check out some of my other resources at: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/Morrisr9

In this pack, I have included: Philosophy Display Cards Philosophy lesson plan: recycling Philosophy lesson plan: friendships Philosophy Powerpoint: recycling Philosophy Powerpoint: friendships A document on how to teach philosophy. I have been teaching Philosophy lessons for a whole term now and the difference it has made in children’s problem solving skills in friendship issues, aswell as mathematical problems is amazing! We spend an hour a week on P4C and it’s the children’s favourite lesson. Some of them have come out with some cracking conclusions too: “Crying is an expression of your truest emotions. The body takes over from the mind”. I mean WOW!
Phonics Screening Revision Game

Phonics Screening Revision Game

This game involves asking the children to roll a dice and read the sound that their counter lands on. When they read the sound, they must think of a word that this sound is in. I played it in mixed ability pairs, the low ability children just had to try and read the sound. It was a lot of fun and they loved it. It contains diagraphs, triagraphs, split diiagraphs and single sound letters for a thorough revision.

What is a Scientist? Year 5 Science Planning

This is an extremely practical lesson that I used as an introduction to the topic of Ancient Scientists. Children need to carry out experiments that represent different types of research. In one of the experiments, children need to taste chocolate, in another they need to test which ball floats the best etc. This lesson introduces the different types of scientific research in a fun, practical way. My children really enjoyed this lesson and it was a fantastic introduction to the topic. Notebook presentation and lesson plan included. This resource consists of a history and geography lesson on the Romans. It is the first week in each subject on the topic of the Romans. In History, the children will be thinking about the term history and what it means. They will then discuss and fill in a KWL chart based on the Romans, which is a nice little assessment tool. The children will fill in what they Know about the ROmans and what they Want to know about the Romans. This provides an interest into the topic and children will hope to have their curiosities answered by the end of the topic. The L section of the KWL will be left until the end of the topic where children will fill out what they have Learned. In Geography, the children will be looking at which countries were occupied by the Roman Empire. This lesson looks at using compass skills and atlas work also, which is a great geographical skill in itself. If you do not have notebook viewer on your computer you can download it for free online so that you can avail of these presentations. KWL and SEN resource included. Please review this resource :)
