French A level taster session - new AQA specification

(1)
This bundle of resources includes a PPT to introduce the new French A level from AQA, followed by an activity using a popular song in the French charts. There is also a worksheet to go with the song activity. The booklet is designed to accompany the PPT and includes information about the new A level in French from AQA. Remember, you may need to edit such information as the number of teachers and lessons. This is on page 2. There is reference to resources on Kerboodle as well, which of course will not be relevant to your students, so you may wish to delete/edit these parts.

Use the texts as a basis for introducing different types of sport. Then, pupils work to remember whether each sport uses 'je fais' or 'je joue'. You could look at patterns here. From memory, pupils complete the phrases they've just learned. Finish with a game of the famous 'Donate or Steal' (instructions in the notes section of the slide.

The text is on the topic of free time and is aimed more at KS3. In 2 teams, pupils choose a word to find in the text. The pupils don’t know what each word is worth. Click on the word they have chosen when they have correctly identified it in the text and their score will be revealed. The winning team is the team with the highest score once all words have been found in the text.

The writing wheel is designed as a support for pupils' writing, especially in a foreign language, which is one of the most difficult skills. In this case, the topic is leisure. Starting from the centre, pupils write something from each circle and work their way out. Then print out one or both slides (depending on how much you want pupils to write) as support for pupils’ writing.

This PPT introduces the topic of ideal holidays, using 'je voudrais' and 'j'aimerais'. Introduce the vocab section by section. Each image appears with the relevant part of the sentence, also highlighting how to build the sentences. Pupils then match up what they have learned to the English. There is a translation activity after this and then a game of the famous 'Donate or Steal' at the end. Instructions are in the notes section of the PPT.
