Simply click ‘spin’ to start the wheel off, press ‘stop’ to choose a letter and ‘reset’ when you want to choose a new one. Can be customised although slides are carefully linked to ensure the spinner works so labels need to be changed individually rather than copied and pasted.

A great powerpoint game for ESL students. A fun warmer/filler activity that includes 12 rounds. Instructions: This game can be played individually or in small groups. Start each round by spinning the wheel to choose a letter. Double-click to start the timer. The timer is set for 1 minute. Players write answers for each of the categories on the list that start with the chosen letter. There are ten categories in each list. Players/teams win one point for every original answer. Points are cancelled if more than one person has the same answer. (WARNING: For the spinner to work, there are lots of slides that aren’t seen when using the Powerpoint in Viewing Mode - deleting/altering the slides may result in the Powerpoint not working)

A Guess Who game for talking about jobs. Include versions with and without job titles. Jobs: artist, builder, bus driver, cashier, chef, doctor, farmer, firefighter, footballer, journalist, lawyer, mechanic, photographer, pilot, police officer, receptionist, singer, soldier, student, teacher, vet and waiter. How to play: A student chooses one of the jobs. The other students must ask yes/no questions to discover the job they have chosen e.g. Does the person work outside? Do they help people in emergencies? To make it more challenging, add a limit to the number of questions that can be asked. Can be printed and laminated for pair work or projected on an IWB for a whole class activity.
