A useful set of cards for a fun ESL B2 review class. Jenga set not included! Instructions: Print out the different categories on coloured card, laminate if possible, and cut out the individual words or phrases. Play with a Jenga set with 6 different-coloured blocks and a dice. Students take it in turn to roll the dice, and the colour corresponds to a category. Students take one of the cards corresponding to the colour they have rolled and complete the relevant task before removing a piece from the tower. Tasks: Conditionals - students must complete the sentence half. Dependent preposition - students must use the phrase correctly in a sentence. Irregular verbs - students read the base verb and must say the past simple and past participle forms. Phrasal verbs - Students must use the phrasal verb correctly in a sentence. Tenses - Students must correctly conjugate the verb to complete the sentence. Vocabulary - Students must use the word or phrase correctly in a sentence. *To make the game more challenging, for the dependent preposition, phrasal verbs and vocabulary categories, you can set a minimum number of words for the sentences students need to produce.

A great powerpoint game to liven up practising phrasal verbs with upper-intermediate/advanced ESL students. How to play: Split students into pairs or small teams. Click ‘spin’ and then ‘stop’ to choose the preposition to go with the verb and create a sentence using the phrasal verb. Teams win a point for every correct sentence formed. For an extra challenge, set a minimum number of words for the sentence to contain. Includes phrasal verbs with: come, get, go, put, take and turn

A great little spinner to liven up the ESL classroom. Works with Powerpoint and Google Slides. Simply click ‘spin’ to start the wheel off, press ‘stop’ to choose a number and ‘reset’ when you want to choose a new one. Can be customised although slides are carefully linked to ensure the spinner works so labels need to be changed individually rather than copied and pasted. Possible Uses: Assign each student a number and use it to decide the order they answer questions in. Link each number to a different topic, grammar point each to decide which one to practise next. Practise the numbers with VYLs or use it to practise Maths in English. Use it to decide how many target words students must use in a sentence/paragraph or how many sentences they must create for a certain learning point. The possibilities are endless!
