This engaging and visually appealing revision aid includes contextual information, tasks, key quotations that link to the context and an engaging game to help reinforce students understanding of the background to Shakespeare's play. This lesson is carefully scaffolded to ensure that students struggling to achieve a grade 5 are fully supported in their learning. Exemplar material is offered, regular reinforcement of learning and steady building of skills are all used to ensure all students are able to write a grade 5 speech, should this come up in the exams.

An in depth study of Act 2 of Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’. This is designed for GCSE teaching and includes a range of activities including: explanation and exploration of iambic pentameter, links to the theme of distrust, drama activities, quotation finds, matching activities, debate and written tasks. This is 4-6 hours of teaching and includes everything students need to know for their exams in an accessible and fun format.

This resource covers Book 2, Chapters 3-6 of the narrative and includes a range of inclusive and challenge activities to ensure students are engaged and stretched. This lesson includes reference to theories relating to the text to enable students to access the grades 8 and 9 together with more accessible and relatable activities for lower ability.

These resources include a detailed lesson plan, powerpoint, individualised learning objectives that are aligned with the new GCSE 9-1 grades, a game board template together with a set of original and fully differentiated questions (I laminated both the board and the questions to aid longevity as the students loved this game and wanted to play it again and again). This lesson was ranked outstanding on every level when observed as the outcomes demonstrated above average progression for every student in the group. These resources are perfect for use with years 9,10 and 11.

This is the first of several lessons on this new option on GCSE syllabuses. These lessons are differentiated and supported whilst also offering challenge and options to create revision resources in preparation for the final examinations. These lesson would work as well for KS3 groups who need a strengthened syllabus in preparation for the more robust (9-1) specifications as for KS4 students preparing for exams. This is a lesson that can be used as a stand alone lesson or built into a unit on Dystopian Fiction that covers the skills required to access the (9-1) strengthened GCSE Non Fiction Reading Paper. The lesson works slowly through each question type offering tips and guidance on how to access secure grades at GCSE level. Two non fiction articles are included.

With a distinct shortage of past papers for the new GCSE 9-1 specifications I have created this additional practice paper for use with the OCR spec. Texts used are Hilary Mantels 'Bring up the Bodies and Michael Frayns 'Spies'.

This powerpoint covers the latter chapters of Book 1 of this new GCSE text. The powerpoint contains a number of engaging activities to ensure full comprehension of the text as you read and activities to begin to construct revision pages on the themes contained in this text. It also includes a 9-1 exam style 'exploding question' in which extract skills are taught in a supported way before setting up a full essay question.

This lesson takes you through a theory based lesson using music to learn quotations from texts. This lesson has proved to be a highly enjoyable, alternative and effective approach to last minute quotation learning, even for students who struggle to retain information. This lesson includes a number of engaging activities to draw students into this subtly complex poem. I have designed this lesson primarily for use when teaching the Cambridge IGCSE specifications (0475 and (0992) (2020-2021 syllabuses) although this would equally make an excellent study of an Unseen Poem at GCSE or the study of Other Cultures Poetry for a KS3 curriculum. One of the activities in this resource requires ‘sweets’: some sweet and some sour…these are not included in this resource, but make for an exciting and memorable lesson that helps students see the ‘effect’ of the poets methods in a highly kinaesthetic way. This resource draws on a range of teaching methods to nurture a love of literature in your students. This resource is all you need to teach Chapter 1 of this GCSE literature text. This resource covers a study of the characters and themes, through creative writing, non fiction reading, discussion, homework tasks, and a quiz and utilises discretely differentiated outcomes and targets that are in turn used to assess your students’ knowledge. As a teacher, I wholly believe in learning by ‘doing’ and this lesson promotes that style of teaching, it is perfect for newly qualified teachers (who need a guide into teaching a novel) and for experienced teachers looking to save a little time on planning for that new text that’s now on your timetable. This resource is equally useful for students wanting to learn at home, with parents who are not so familiar with the text, activities easily translate to home study tasks or intervention activities. These resources are fully differntiated depending on the GCSE group you are teaching, it includes separate powerpoints and supporting resources for each and a lesson plan, should you use this for an observation. These lessons teach students how to access the GCSE anthology poems in a slightly different way and use an acronmyn to support Unseen Poetry analysis too. Across the resources there are two GCSE questions in line with the curriculum. This could be used for any specification for Unseen Poetry analysis, use of visual images and a quiz, group work and alphabetised poetry is used to engage students.
