Such a fun way to remind kids to always read the instructions.
Step 1. Read all the instructions.
Steps 2-9. Lots of challenges involving drawing, clapping, jumping, hugging and shouting.
Step 10. Don't do steps 2-9. Hand in your paper to receive a prize.
If you are in a country which allows it, it would be worth taking a video of your kids doing this challenge as it is hilarious to watch!
[Note: This is a one page resource. As an added bonus, it includes my dice roller tool for free - never worry if you don't have dice again!]
Communicative or individual activity including 3 different sheets of Alien code, the answer key, and a key to help students with the decoding.
3 sets of Alien code with a key. Leave the code or messages in a 'space ship' for students to find and let them find the other part elsewhere or simply explain that you 'found these strange messages at home'. Students either communicate to decode the messages or work individually, depending what you want them to do the activity for.
Sheet 1 are motivational 'fortune cookie' style messages.
Sheet 2 include a treasure hunt based on 5 clues. Sufficiently generic to work in any school.
Sheet 3 is a letter from the aliens requesting help. Students decode the message and then the teacher produces a list of whatever the students need to do in order to help them (for example, complete their maths homework, or find the answer to a difficult question.).
The children (grades 2-8) I've done this activity with have loved it!
A simple editable PPT for any interactive whiteboard/screen based multi choice game. Simply add your questions and edit the button text.
Students choose a number, answer the question based on colour and get directed to a YES or a NO slide.
Create messages for your students written in alien code and print them out instantly.
Alien message decoding can be a fantastic activity to engage students with a topic, or to introduce a task. This tool will allow you to type in any message in any (roman alphabet) language, and print out the message in alien code, along with a key.
I love to leave these messages for students to find and watch the children's excitement as they try and decode.
If you are a head of department, you assess a lot of teachers and you need to save some time providing your feedback.
Use this tool to save you hours. Simply add in the most common comments that you make (eg ' This was a very teacher oriented class. I'd like to see some more student-student interaction'), add the names of the teachers and assign which comments you want to appear in the appraisal for which teachers.
Then, print. Job done!
This tool works up to a maximum of 30 teachers and 30 of your comments. If you need more teachers or more comments, simply save a second version of the tool.
When you are assessing student work, whether it's writing, group presentations, speeches or any other aspect of their school performance, there's a good chance that you have some comments which apply to multiple students.
Use this tool to save you hours. Simply add in the most common comments that you make (eg ' You worked very hard on this speech, but it was very difficult to hear you.'), add the names of the students and assign which comments you want to appear in the feedback for which students.
Then, print. Job done!
This tool works up to a maximum of 30 students and now up to 100 of your comments. If you need more student names or more comments, simply save a second version of the tool.

A lovely Alien message decoding activity setting a task for students to do on the topic of racism.
They must first decode the message, which tells them that racism, prejudice and discrimination are problems. They then have to find the meaning of these words and do a show or a poster introducing the topic and how these problems can be addressed.
This Alien code activity works well with the Racism, discrimination and prejudice introductory PPT
No dice? No problem.
Just occasionally, you may want to roll a die but have no dice to hand. Maybe you want to have a fun way to select which team does an activity first, maybe you want to see who in the class can add all the numbers the fastest. There are countless reasons to use dice in your class, but there are also many reasons why they may not be practical or available SO....
Introducing the dice roller.
Choose one die up to five dice. Roll them on screen by pressing f9, which generates random numbers on every die. Add fun by having students 'roll the dice' by holding f9 down for a few seconds with their eyes covered.
Great way to play a dice game with no actual dice!
A nice little generator for creating cards to hand out to students with, for example, their role for the class or the task their team needs to complete.
Just type the text - header/subtext - and print from the next tab. I've included a set of library task cards as well as a generic set of role cards to start you off, but you can create whatever cards you like, with whatever text.
No formatting required, you just need to adjust the cell boundaries if you type too much (a simple double click), or the page break boundaries (a drag and drop).
This tool will create and print 8 cards with no trouble. If you need more cards, just print one set and edit the list.

A very simple spreadsheet to assess students on their progress while working in teams.
The teacher inputs the student and team names on the left and the criteria across the top.
The teacher then assigns each student a score out of five.
The spreadsheet;
- colour codes each student. Green for 4 or more, Orange for 3 and Red for 2 or less
-Calculates the total team scores, highlighting the winning team(s).
-Presents the data on a bar chart, to be printed off and shown to teams if the teacher wishes.
A selection of 11 beautiful hand-drawn pictures for colouring. Look at the thumbnail to see which images are available and whether they are suitable for the children you want to give them to.
I expect these will be used for colouring, but they could also be used to make documents look nicer, or for budding artists to try to copy.

A stylish template for a multiple choice question game with ten questions. Just add multiple choice questions and put the answers into the correct places.
A powerful tool to track and calculate all assessments against weighted criteria.
Simply decide on your modes of assessment and the weighting you want to apply to each mode for the final score. Add student names and input student assessments and maximum scores. The tool will immediately calculate percentages and recalculate against your weightings to find a percentage.
Student missed an assessment or joined the school late? No problem! An easy input option allows you to prevent a student’s final percentages being effected by missed assessments.
Instructions included to ensure that the tool is simple for you.
Aliens have landed on Earth and Agent Lucy from the British Alien Invasion Team (BAIT) needs your help.
Your students need to defeat the Aliens by taking over the school, one room at a time using only their brains.
This is a delightful PPT introducing a long running game for your students. It explains the idea behind the game and has one example challenge (Create a team logo, following the specifications)
This is a great way to keep kids motivated. Spend the week teaching them and then finish off the week with a challenge based on what they've learned. Excellent for formative assessment.
Easily update the powerpoint with your own challenges and photos of the winning team.
Bullying / Anti-bullying PPT that explains what bullying is in simple terms for children before leading them through some suggestions of how to deal with people bullying both themselves and others and finally an opportunity for children to agree behaviour in their class.
The PPT defines bullying and gets children to think of examples and reflect on the feelings generated. They’ll think about and see some techniques to prevent bullying.
They’ll then think of and be presented with what to do when they see others being bullied.
Finally, they’ll come up with some agreements of how they as a class can prevent bullying.
I have put some suggested agreements which can be edited and there is a space on a slide where you as a class can add your own, before printing off the slide and asking all students to sign the agreements.
A carefully prepared unit on Rosa Parks and the bus boycott, a great part of a wider civil rights or black history unit. The sequence takes students through the bus boycott story to the writing of a diary from the perspective of Rosa and/or James Blake.
