More and Less - Reception - Early Years Differentiated worksheets. Worksheet 1 Roll the dice. Then count the dots on the dice. Draw the dots in the middle box. Draw 1 more in the right box. Draw 1 less in the left box. Or write the correct numbers. To differentiate, children need to use 2 dice and add them together to find the total value. Then find 1 more and 1 less. Or use a foam dice and add your own numbers (e.g 2 -3 digit numbers). Worksheet 2 Find 1 more and 1 less using a number line.

Fill in the missing numbers differentiated 0-5 5-10 10 - 15 15 - 20 I printed these out, laminated them in strips. The children write the missing number with a whiteboard pen, lower ability children place a number magnet in the correct place.

Enhanced provision activity mats Early Years / Reception / Year 1 1 more and 1 less - laminate the sheets and encourage children to use objects (cubes, counters, compare bears) to find 1 more/1 less. Outdoor learning - laminate the sheets and encourage children to find natural materials to find 1 more/1 less than the number in the middle of the table. Worksheet - roll the dice and add 1 more/take 1 away and record your answer Worksheet - count the pictures in the centre column, then add 1 more/take 1 away and record your answer. To differentiate for MAT children, can they write the number. To make it easier, children can record answers using drawings. Worksheet - use the number line to record 1 more or 1 less than the number. Worksheet - circle which picture has more/less Editable Word document & PDF copy provided

Recognising capital letters - highlight the letters that they recognise. Easy indicator of what letters to work on. Reading zero to twenty. Tick when children are able to read these key words. I do these assessments at the end of each full term. I then make groups of children to focus on similar sounds/numbers. There is also a differentiated follow up maths worksheet for children to practise reading the numbers zero to twenty.

Sorting 2 digit and 3 digit numbers to 50 and 100 - differentiated. Split up teen numbers. Left as a template, as I wrote my own numbers to differentiate. Addition and subtraction worksheet/challenge for maths area - independent task. Differentiated addition and subtraction worded problems. Money - make a spider diagram of all the ways you can make 15p and 50p. My year 1s used numicon shapes. MAT started using multiplication, such as 5 lots of 10p make 50p (5x10=50).

Actions and Instruments - Children used the flash cards to make a pattern with actions. Children took turns making the pattern for the rest of the group to make. Use 2D shapes for children to follow a pattern also. Repeating Pattern Snakes - My children used their fingers to paint a pattern on the snakes. My top group were encouraged to make 3 changes.

Children will need to listen to the instruction read out by the teacher. This will help them to develop their understanding of ‘left’ and ‘right’. Worksheet - I’ve attached both copies, a PDF & an editable Word document. Direction cards - I’ve used these in the woodlands as part of an outdoor learning activity. Children take it in turns to choose 5 instructions. They put sequence them and then tell their partner how to get to a treasure box/x marks the spot. Direction cards - I’ve used these for BlueBot/BeeBot activities. Children sequence direction cards and then give their friend instructions to move BlueBot.
