HIGHER MATHS LESSON: SOLVE LINEAR INEQUALITIES

(0)
Complete lesson for more able students to show them how to solve linear inequalities and represent their solutions on a number line. Powerpoint fully explains method using traditional “do the same to both sides” approach. It also discusses dividing by negatives and how this can be avoided by adding the x to both sides. Fully differentiated (three levels) write on resource with student notes section and a self-evaluation plenary section. No answers included.

9 FOUNDATION REVISION MINI ASSESSMENTS: DATA

(0)
9 documents on one spreadsheet that will give quick revision of all of the basic skills needed at foundation level for students targetting grade 4 or 5. Topics include scatter diagrams, pie charts (draw and interpret), averages and probability. Answers not included. Can be used as revision, homeworks are plenary activities
WHOLE LESSON: SIMULTANEOUS EQUATIONS
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: SIMULTANEOUS EQUATIONS

(0)
Multiple lessons and resources to take a KS3/4 class from the very start of simultaneous equations through to more complex examples. I teach it via matching the coefficient of the middle term and then applying different sign add or same sign subtract. The powerpoint takes the students through the phases of the work where, at first the coefficients match. Then students will have to multiply through to enable a match. Finally there is manipulation of both equations required. At least 5 different resources, many of which can be written on and some answers are contained. Homework task is available also.
WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION SIMPLIFICATION OF ANY SIMPLE EXPRESSIONS (ADD OR MULTIPLY)
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION SIMPLIFICATION OF ANY SIMPLE EXPRESSIONS (ADD OR MULTIPLY)

(0)
The final lesson in the series on algebraic simplification gives students a chance to simplify any type of expression under the addition/subtraction/multiplication operators. Students are told when they should be counting like terms and when they should be adjusting powers. The fully differentiated resource goes from one star (easy) which is multi-choice to three star (hard). Answers not included.
WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION SIMPLIFICATION OF EXPRESSIONS UNDER MULTIPLICATION
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION SIMPLIFICATION OF EXPRESSIONS UNDER MULTIPLICATION

(0)
The third lesson in a series slowly allowing students to master the simplification of expressions. The powerpoint talks students through what we do when we simplify expressions such as 3a multiplied by 2b. The fully differentiated resource which can be written on starts with one star (easy) which is multi-choice and progresses through more advanced expressions which need simplifying. Answers not included.
DECISION MATHEMATICS A LEVEL: DIJKSTRA
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

DECISION MATHEMATICS A LEVEL: DIJKSTRA

(0)
Full lesson on Dijkstra's algorithm for finding the shortest path in a network. Fully animated powerpoint takes students slowly through the process of labelling the nodes and selecting which nodes will form part of the solution. The lesson resource is fully write-on and will only need printing (answers are included). There is another resource which covers more basic practice questions (with answers given).
FOUNDATION GCSE REVISION OF EQUATION SOLVING: WHOLE LESSON
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

FOUNDATION GCSE REVISION OF EQUATION SOLVING: WHOLE LESSON

(0)
An entire lessons devoted to re-visiting the various equations a lower ability foundation student (or younger student) will have to tackle. This goes from one step (x + a = b) through to classic two step (ax + b = c), through brackets (a(bx+c)=d) and finally letters on both sides (ax+b=cx+d). The equations are nearly all positive integer solutions and so can be solved without a calculator. The resource can be written on and is full differentiated from 1 star (lots of support and little variation in the style) to 3 star (simply the equation). I have included another document which is a little more watered down. The powerpoint takes students through how to solve equations by inverse operations. Note there are no answers to the task
WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION SIMPLIFYING EXPRESSIONS VIA PERIMETER
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION SIMPLIFYING EXPRESSIONS VIA PERIMETER

(0)
Lesson 2 in a series of lessons on simplifying expressions. This is a classic scenario where students are asked to find an expression for the perimeter of a shape. The powerpoint walks the students around the shapes and writes out the expression as we go. The fully differentiated resource allows students to write on the sheet (no need for drawing the shapes). One star is very basic with all sides having simple expressions. Two and three star have multi-term expressions on the edges and the rectangles have only the length and breadth shown. Answers not included.

11 MINI ASSESSMENTS OF NUMBER TOPICS AT FOUNDATION GRADE 2

(0)
15 minute assessments that can be used as homeworks, assessments in class or revision. Each tests the basic recall in the following number topics: factors, fractions of amounts, percentages of amounts, multiplying by 100/1000, percentage recognition, square numbers, addition, patterns, subtraction, division and multiplication
WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION DIVISION OF QUANTITY IN A RATIO
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION DIVISION OF QUANTITY IN A RATIO

(0)
Whole lesson to low ability students on division in a ratio. The powerpoint contains several ways of teaching the topic but the resource that accompanies it goes with the traditional ADAM method (add, divide and multiply). The resource is fully differentiated and provides a lot of support with no context at 1 star, going through to fully contextualised questions with no support at 3 star. There is a multi choice homework that accompanies the lesson also.
RATIO SIMPLIFICATION BINGO
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

RATIO SIMPLIFICATION BINGO

(0)
18 random bingo cards with one guarateed winner. Play the powerpoint (which has two levels with answers that are common) and keep a note of which ratios have been given. These are simple, unit free ratios that involve dividing both numbers by 2, 3, 4, 5 10, 100. Great way to finish a lesson on simplification of ratio
WHOLE LESSON; INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR ANGLE OF POLYGON
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON; INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR ANGLE OF POLYGON

(0)
This is a flexible lesson on the interior angle sum of an n-gon. The starter is a simple multi choice on estimation of angle size which will help warm the class up. The powerpoint contains both classic ways of teaching this subject: the first few slides come at this from the formula exterior angle = 360 divided by the number of sides when the polygon is regular. The latter slides approach it in a more traditional experimental manner of splitting the polygon into n- 2 triangles. How you deliver the lesson is therefore up to you! The spreadsheet contains multiple activities, most of them differentiated and a print out of a table of facts that students can stick in their books. Most of the resources are write on also so there is no need for students to draw a thing. This should be all you need to tackle this topic
WHOLE LESSON: CLASSIFY AND ESTIMATE ANGLES
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: CLASSIFY AND ESTIMATE ANGLES

(0)
An entire lesson that gets students to appreciate the different types of angle and estimate their size. The starter is a simple (differentiated) number chain. The power point is fully animated to show how an angle spins around from 0 degrees, passing the key benchmarks of 90, 180 and 270. Students can then estimate the angle. The fully differentiated resource that accompanies this lesson mirrors the board and gives students plenty of support. As this is an activity some students will fly through I have included some bonus differentiated number practise as this will primarily be aimed at foundatio GCSE students who always need the practise!
